When my husband and I bought our first house, we agreed we'd make decisions together.
Everything was fine until his mother started showing up unannounced.
At first, it was small things. Rearranging furniture. Criticizing how I cooked. Telling me how a "real wife" should behave.
I asked my husband to talk to her.
Instead, he told me I was being too sensitive.
Months later, his mother demanded a key to our house.
I said no.
She exploded.
My husband sat quietly while she called me controlling and disrespectful.
Then he turned to me and said:
"Just give her the key. She's my mother."
I felt betrayed.
It wasn't about the key anymore.
It was about him refusing to stand beside me when it mattered.
Now he's angry because I moved into the guest room and barely speak to him.
He says I'm forcing him to choose.
But wasn't he the one who already did?
If you were in my position, would you stay and work it out, or walk away?
