One thing The Sopranos did better than almost every other show is that it never tried to convince you Tony was a good guy.

There are moments where you genuinely feel bad for him.

The panic attacks.
The constant pressure of running the family.
The fights at home.
The feeling that everyone wants som**hing from him.

Then, just when you're starting to sympathize with him, he does som**hing that reminds you exactly who he is.

That's what made the show so different.

Most shows want you to root for the main character.

The Sopranos never really cared whether you liked Tony or not.

It just showed you who he was and let you figure it out for yourself.

Some days he felt like a victim of his circumstances.

Other days he was clearly the cause of most of his own problems.

And somehow, that's what made him feel more real than almost any character on television.

Even after all these years, I still can't decide whether Tony Soprano was a bad person with moments of good in him, or a good person who kept making bad choices.

Did therapy actually help Tony?

When I first watched the show, I thought Dr. Melfi was helping him become a better person.

She got him to talk about things he'd never talked about before.

His childhood.
His mother.
His fears.
His panic attacks.

But after rewatching the series, I'm not so sure.

Tony definitely became more self-aware. He understood why he did certain things, what triggered his anger, his insecurities.

The problem is that understanding yourself and changing yourself aren't the same thing.

Sometimes it felt like Tony was using therapy to become a better person.

Other times it felt like he was using therapy to become a better Tony.

A more effective Tony.

A Tony who could justify his actions a little better.

That's what makes the Melfi sessions so interesting to me.

By the end of the show, I couldn't tell if therapy was helping Tony or helping him stay exactly the same.

What's your take?

Did therapy make Tony a better person, or did it just make him better at explaining why he did terrible things?

Everyone talks about the moment Walter White became Heisenberg.

I think this is the moment he lost.

Not when Hank found out.

Not when Gus threatened his family.

Not even when he started cooking m**h.

This scene.

The crawl space.

When Walt realizes the money is gone and starts laughing.

The first time I watched it, I thought he was losing his mind.

Now I think it's som**hing worse.

For the first time, Walter realizes he can't solve the problem.

His intelligence can't save him.

His plans can't save him.

His money can't save him.

Everything he spent years building is slipping away.

And all he can do is laugh.

Bryan Cranston's performance in this scene is still one of the greatest pieces of acting I've ever seen on television.

No dialogue.

No action.

Just a man realizing he's finally out of moves.

Pick one movie!

I don't think Denzel Washington gets enough credit for how ridiculously consistent he's been. Most actors have that one movie everyone remembers them for, but with Denzel it's different. Ask ten people what his best performance was and you'll probably get ten different answers. Some will say Training Day, others will pick Man on Fire, Flight, Malcolm X, The Equalizer, or Remember the Titans.

What's even crazier is that he's been doing this for decades. No gimmicks, no chasing trends, just great performances over and over again. There are actors whose names make you interested in a movie, and then there are actors whose names alone are enough to convince you to watch it. Denzel has always been in that second category for me.

Looking at all these movies together really makes you realize how rare a career like this is.

So if you had to pick just one Denzel Washington movie to watch tonight, which one are you choosing?

Just finished watching Zodiac, and now I understand why so many people consider it one of the best crime thrillers ever made.

What surprised me most is that it doesn't rely on cheap twists or constant action to keep you hooked. Instead, it slowly pulls you into the obsession surrounding the case, and before you know it, you're just as invested as the characters trying to solve it.

Seeing Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. share the screen was a treat on its own.

If you haven't watched Zodiac yet, I'd highly recommend it. It's one of those movies that stays in your head long after the credits roll.
