Final Countdown

We all think about it sometimes - technology has come so far, and though our favorite WWII planes were once masters of the sky, they wouldn't stand a chance against what we have today. Still, we love to see them fly together.

The movie "Final Countdown" gave us just that in a

Hello VIRPILs!

We hope everyone has had a fantastic Christmas, getting all the flightsim gear they wanted!

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of our very first public announcement detailing the MongoosT-50 project. In just two short years we've had many exciting developments including the opening of our own dedicated production factory in Belarus and appointing Baur of BRD fame as VIRPIL Control's Chief Designer!

We've expanded our catalogue to include a new next-generation desktop base - the VPC WarBRD, which builds on the excellent design of the proven BRD-DS Base. 2018 also marked the release of our VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle and the creation of the space-sim focused VPC Constellation Series.

We have no intentions of slowing down though! Our production factory is being ramped up to cope with the amazing demand we've been experiencing. We've been scheduling frequent restocks roughly every 2 weeks since 1st October - now we're working to bring the production numbers up even further.

A lot of work has been going into our factory, including new equipment and new staff. We've taken some photos around the new VIRPIL Controls factory to show to show everyone what's going on behind the scenes!

Our product development team are also working around the clock on many exciting new projects. The next product we'd like to reveal today is our third unique grip design to our catalogue - the VPC WarBRD Grip!

It's the perfect addition to our VPC WarBRD base, based on a very successful grip design found in many different types of aircraft over the years. Featuring a versatile selection of controls including:

• Dual Stage Trigger
• 1 x 8-way POV Hat (+ Push)
• 2 x Momentary Push Buttons
• 4-Way (+ Push) Thumb Hat
• All Metal Twist Axis with VPC Contactless Sensor
• Configurable Mode LED

The VPC WarBRD Grip will be available for sale on our webstore from the 23rd January 2019 for 109.95 EUR.

We're continuing to work on other projects behind the scenes which we hope to announce within the 1st half of 2019 so stay tuned for more news on those!

We've received a fantastic response to our forum thread asking the community what grip they want to see from us in the future with a modern western fighter grip currently leading the vote - this doesn't mean the other options won't happen, it just helps us to know what you guys want next! The poll closes on December 31st so be sure to get your vote in for a chance to win one of our next grips to be released in the first quarter of 2019. There will be three winners chosen at random from everyone who has voted.

The prizes are:

• 1st Winner - VPC WarBRD Grip
• 2nd Winner - Unannounced VPC Grip
• 3rd Winner - Unannounced VPC Grip

As always we must thank you, the community - without you none of this would even be possible! Here's to an exciting 2019 VIRPILs!

We hope you all have a fantastic New Year!

Scroggins Aviation Mockup & Effects

Scroggins Aviation Mockup & Effects

Scroggins Aviation places one of its rare Convair 880 jet liners, serial number 23 (Ship 23), a forward fuselage section on loan to a museum.
After sitting in the Mojave Desert for 38 years, the Tillamook Air Museum in Oregon shipped the 880 on August 29th from Mojave Air & Space Port, CA. It will take two days for it to make its journey north to its new home.

The museum plans to restore the section to its former Trans-World Airlines “ TWA” livery. Once completed, people will be able to not only walk around it, but also walk through the vintage passenger cabin and look into the cockpit area.

There are only three cockpits on display at museums and two are owned by Scroggins, the third is at the Delta Air Lines Museum in Atlanta.
Tillamook will have the only Convair 880 on display on the west coast. For more information, visit Tillamook Air Museum.

The plane was built in San Diego in 1960, and then delivered to Northeast Airlines. “This particular Convair 880 (Serial #23) set two speed records during its lifetime, one in 1960 from San Diego, California to Boston, Massachusetts in 4 hours, 17 minutes, and another in 1962 from La Guardia Airport (New York City) to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1 hour, 43 minutes. (It’s a record that still stands to this day!)”

In the 1990 movie “The Rookie” starring Clint Eastwood, Ship 23 made an appearance when it performed a stunt by moving down a runway under its own power, then having its left wing tip clip a small corporate jet.

There were only 65 Convair 880s ever built and now there are only two in the U.S. and one in Africa. Scroggins has the last surviving airliner passenger version of this type, Convair 880 (Ship 35). The others are configured into corporate aircraft. Elvis Presley’s plane is in Graceland Memphis, TN where it is well-preserved. The other was reportedly converted into a house at one time. Its fate is unknown.

Scroggins Aviation also owns a complete Convair 990. There are only four remaining of the 37 built, and now two are in the U.S. The others are located overseas.
