Ukrainian Military Musicians "Cultural Forces" gratitude concerts in New Orleans
Cultural Forces, an ensemble of Ukrainian military veterans and active-duty service members, will present a free public concert at the New Marigny Theater on Wednesday, October 23, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This special performance offers New Orleans residents a unique opportunity to experience world-class Ukrainian musicians while showing support for Ukraine's defenders.
The evening will start with musical performance followed by a conversation about the situation in the Ukraine.
The group, comprising combat veterans who have served in some of Ukraine's fiercest battles, features an extraordinary lineup including bandura players, an opera singer, a violinist, a pianist, a country singer, and a poet. Several members have returned to active military duty after recovering from combat wounds, embodying the resilience of the Ukrainian spirit.
This New Orleans performance is part of Cultural Forces' two-month American tour, designed to express Ukraine's appreciation for U.S. support since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022. The concert will showcase the bandura, a traditional 62-string Ukrainian folk instrument, alongside classical and contemporary performances.
In Ukraine, Cultural Forces plays a vital role in maintaining the morale and psychological well-being of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through their performances for troops.
