I wanted to show off my process a little bit.

A lot of my work is done by mirror imaging a photo so that it creates a new pattern and image but when selecting a photo there are so many options how I arrange them.

So the first image you see was the original image then the next 4 are different ways arranging it. Each one being a wholly unique image and pattern highlighting different aspects of the original. These are only examples of the most basic arrangements. In theory I could take one image and arrange it 1000 different ways through cropping and different angles and I could create 1000 completely different images based on the 1.

I also often use Lomochrome Purple a film that shifts the colors of making greens purples and turquoises. The chemistry of the film itself does this and it's not something I can truly replicate and is truly a work of magic

The last two images are the same image shot using Lomochrome Purple the first is just how the film turned out and was scanned. The 2nd is my attempt at reversing the effect digitally which I can kind of do but it's far from perfect.

I show all of this and say all of this because art is more than just the final image. Art is the process, the act of creating, the choices made. In my art it starts with which camera or film I'm using and goes all the way to the arrangement and even the printing process. Every decision made along the way is what makes it art.

As we see Ai create images more and more we must remember it will never be art because it lacks the human process, decisions and intentions an image needs to be art. Ai images will only ever be copying other people's art and intentions creating never its own.

Sometimes things go wrong when shooting film I don't know for sure what happened here but I can guess. The back of my camera came loose mid roll and created a series of images partially whited out.

But that's sometimes the beauty of film the flaws and errors and grain that are impossible to truly emulate with digital photography. With those flaws and errors you sometimes get these beautiful mistakes.
