Confetti Park

Confetti Park Confetti Park is a children’s media workshop, podcast, and weekly radio program based out of New Orleans.

Confetti Park is New Orleans-based children's media workshop - we build community through music with a children’s choir and radio program promoting Louisiana and its culture. We gather and tell stories, through music, art, puppetry, animations, and more. The Confetti Park radio show and podcast, hosted by Katy Hobgood Ray and Louis Ray, features music and stories spun in Louisiana and the Mississi

ppi Delta. It showcases songs that kids love, songs created for kids, and songs created by kids. Sparkling interviews, in-studio performances, delightful music medleys, jokes, local author storytime, and a little surprise lagniappe make for an entertaining show! The name for Confetti Park comes from a small playground in the heart of the Algiers Point, a scenic and sweet neighborhood on the bank of the Mississippi River.

💚 Love the Boot, Confetti Kids style! 💚

We’re so proud of these amazing neighborhood kids who helped clean up our parks this morning as part of Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s Love the Boot Week!

They showed up, worked hard, and made a big impact—our parks are now litter-free and looking beautiful 🌿✨

Thank you to all of our little helpers (and their families!) for loving our parks as much as we do 💚

Drew Barrymore gave her daughter a phone at 11, took it away three months later after seeing how dependent she'd become on it, and has been navigating the push and pull ever since -- just like millions of other parents. "I want to let parents know that we can live with our children's discomfort in having to wait," she wrote. "We are doing what we now know to be a safer, slower approach."

What's your approach to kids and smartphones? Did you set an age? Are you holding the line? Did you give in and wish you hadn't -- or give in and it's been fine? We'd love to hear what's working (and what isn't) for your family.

For a new guide for tweens by Jonathan Haidt and Catherine Price about living a happy life that isn't dominated by smartphones, we highly recommend "The Amazing Generation: Your Guide to Fun and Freedom in a Screen-Filled World" for ages 9 and up https://bookshop.org/a/8011/9798217111909 (Bookshop) and https://amzn.to/4vux0mX (Amazon)

If you do decide to give your tween a phone, there's an excellent guide covering topics like privacy, boundaries, digital etiquette, and online safety in a playful, kid-friendly way that's perfect for kids 10 and up: "First Phone: A Child's Guide to Digital Responsibility, Safety, and Etiquette" for ages 10 and up at https://bookshop.org/a/8011/9780593538333 (Bookshop) and https://amzn.to/3Qnz1RL (Amazon)

For a CBT-based workbook to help teens manage the stress, anxiety, and FOMO that come with social media, we recommend "The Social Media Workbook for Teens" for ages 13 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/the-social-media-workbook-for-teens

For an excellent book for parents on helping kids learn to navigate the digital world, we highly recommend "Growing Up in Public: Coming of Age in a Digital World" at https://www.amightygirl.com/growing-up-in-public
