From free verse to sonnets, from haikus to spoken word, we love to push the limits! The Write is a weekly writing workshop hosted by Lyrical Paradigm. Introduction and Icebreakers:
Writers get acquainted with each other. Icebreakers may be used to create a comfortable and open atmosphere. Setting the Tone: Workshop leader provides rules for hosting space, goals for the session, and expectations of
writers. Discussion of Poetry Elements:
Workshops often begin with discussions on the fundamental elements of poetry, such as imagery, metaphor, symbolism, rhythm, and form. Writers are introduced to different poetic styles and structures. Writing Exercises and Prompts:
Writers participate in a word game that generates the vocabulary to be used in writing prompts. Writers are provided a poetry prompt topic, poem length parameters, and time limit for writing. Sharing and Feedback:
Writers have the opportunity to share their written work with the group. Constructive feedback is provided by peers and the workshop leader. Writers may revise their work based on the feedback received.
**The workshop may include discussions on the revision process and effective editing techniques. Reflection and Closing:
Writers reflect on the workshop experience. The session may end with a discussion on resources for further learning and writing.
* *Craft Talks or Lectures:
Experienced poets or the workshop leader may give craft talks or lectures on various aspects of poetry writing, providing insights and techniques to enhance participants' skills.
* *Open Mic or Reading Sessions:
