Some people don't know that The Write Cup Bookstore Cafe is a subsidiary of Partridge Island Publishing, and since Partridge Island Publishing turns 7 this year! So, we will share seven interesting facts to give you a little more about us.

Today, we are going to talk about our start and how truly Saint John we are!

The core of Partridge Island Publishing met through the writing group Write Now Saint John, which is still alive and thriving, meeting every other Thursday at The Write Cup Bookstore Café.

Our original team consisted of:
Christopher Shae, who left before our first book launched.
Greg Abrams
Shannon Dykens
Amanda Evans
Sandra O’Driscoll
Maryam Sayed

It was after a Write Now Saint John meeting at the Saint John Free Public Library in Market Square that we tried to find a name for the publishing company. We knew we wanted local; we knew we needed something that would say we’re not just a city on the Bay of Fundy, that we are specifically Saint John. When someone looked out the window and saw the lighthouse on Partridge Island, our name was born!

If you are looking for a supportive writing community, look no further than Write Now Saint John. We had a fantastic social meeting this evening with our Snackster, and the turnout was great! This group is exceptional. We meet every other Thursday at The Write Cup Bookstore Cafe and every Sunday at Saint John Writes! I cannot say enough about this group! 📚📖
