Roller Disco is back! Join us at Buttonwood Park on 8/9 and get your skate on! (rain date: 8/16)

Come out and skate with your friends to the sounds of Claudia Dee Bee alongside New Moon’s resident DJs.

🛼 Saturday 8/9, 3-7pm, Buttonwood Park basketball courts, New Bedford, MA.

🛼 BYO quad or inline skates. Skate at your own risk.

🛼 There will plenty of space to hang and dance, even if you don’t skate!

🛼 ALL participants will be required to sign a liability waiver in order to skate. Please visit the check-in tent upon arrival to sign your waiver. Those under 18 years of age will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian who can sign on their behalf.

🛼 Southcoast Shipwreckers Junior Roller Derby and Chakira Gonsalves will be onsite with their skate library stocked with loaner skates for people to use free of charge. Limited stock, first come, first served!

🛼 Free kids skate lesson to kick off the event, starting promptly at 3pm; adult lesson at 3:30pm offered by Amy Caracappa. Show up 15 mins early if you’d like to take the lesson.

🛼 Only roller skates and inline skates; no bikes, skate boards etc.

Due to some unforeseen expenses this year, we are coming up a little short. The main expenses we are hoping to cover with this donation request are the basketball court rental fees: The Park Board offered us a nice discount, but it still comes to about 3x what we paid for the same event last year. And insurance costs: as you can imagine, this event costs a little more to insure than our usual parties.

All of our events are grant funded, but we also rely on donations, mainly contributed at the door during our monthly BodyBodyBody dance parties. If you are able and willing to contribute, please send any and all donations via PayPal or Venmo to

Outside of our guest DJ and our skate instructor, no one is being paid to organize or work this event. It is totally volunteer staffed, and our volunteers are amazing!

Any funds we receive in excess of what is required to make up insurance/park fee shortfalls will be donated to Chakira Gonsalves and the Southcoast Shipwreckers Junior Roller Derby to continue to maintain and grow their skate library.

New Moon Roller Disco is 100% free of charge to attend and participate, and will remain so, regardless of the outcome of this donation request.

New Moon Roller Disco has been POSTPONED due to weather. NEW DATE: SATURDAY, AUGUST 24th from 3-8pm at Buttonwood Park!

Come out and skate with your friends to the sounds of DJ Frankie Rhymin alongside New Moon's resident DJs.

This year, we will also be offering a free kids skate lesson to kick off the event, starting promptly at 3pm. We have 15 spots and PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. We'll also have an adult skate lesson starting at 3:30pm. Register by DM-ing us!

And once again, the Southcoast Shipwreckers Junior Roller Derby and Chakira Gonsalves will be providing access to their skate library, stocked with loaner skates for people to use free of charge! Stock of various sizes of skates is limited, however, so first come, first served!

Otherwise, BYO quad or inline skates and get ready to boogie!
