NSA families, our Principal Dr. Gregory Stewart is retiring. Dr. Stewart has served Metro Schools for 26 years and has been principal at Nashville School of the Arts for 10 years.

We extend a very big Thank You to Dr. Stewart, who personifies the dedication and caring educators are known for, and who has provided an example to our students that expressing themselves through their art (and glittery dress jackets) benefits them in all areas of their lives.

You are missed Dr. Stewart. Godspeed. ❤️

🎶 Recent awards include 2020 Outstanding Administrator of the Year by the Tennessee Music Education Association and 2020-2021 MNPS Principal of the Year.

Our wonderful principal, Dr. Gregory Stewart, is retiring! Below is a letter from Dr. Battle about the selection process and how YOU can be involved in choosing the next leader of NSA.

Dear Nashville School of the Arts families,
Your school will have a new principal next school year. We appreciate Principal Gregory Stewart’s years of service to this district and to NSA and want to wish him well in his retirement. We are now beginning the search to find and hire the right person who can lead NSA to future success.

The principal is the most critical member of a school’s team. He or she shapes the school, guides student instruction and sets a tone for progress. Because it is such an important job that has a direct impact on every student and employee, we want you to be involved in the process for hiring a new principal.

It is important to us to build a leadership profile that will guide the process as we conduct interviews and choose the right candidate, so we are gathering staff and community input throughout the process.

Please contribute to this process.
You can contribute your feedback in several ways:

*Beyond just advising, families and school staff will take part in the actual interview process. We will identify a few individuals from your school to sit on an interview panel that will meet with the top candidates, ask questions and give me feedback in making the final decision. I will take that feedback into serious consideration before hiring your next principal so we choose someone who will be the right fit for your school.

Working together, we will find an exceptional leader for Nashville School of the Arts. I am excited for the future of your school.

Thank you,
Dr. Adrienne Battle
Director of Schools

NSA Students are making a difference in the community. Students of Civil club recently raised money & collected donations for their "Show Our Love" campaign-giving kids in our community much needed hygiene items. Everyday students miss school for this reason, and low attendance leads to low graduation rates. Thank you students for your big hearts & bettering the lives of others.

NSA Theatre Conservatory Presents: Once on This Island

Celebrate storytelling with this rousing Calypso-influenced tale of one small girl who finds love in a world of prejudice. Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, Daniel, with whom she falls in love. Unbeknownst to Ti Moune, the pompous gods who preside over the island make a bet with one another over which is stronger, love or death, the stakes being Ti Moune's life.

April 1st at 7PM
April 2nd at 2PM & 7PM

Tickets are FREE for NSA students and faculty. General admission tickets are $10 for ages 12+ and $5 for those ages 12 and under.

#MNPSBlackExcellence: “MNPS has greatly impacted my life. It was there that I met one of my biggest mentors, Mr. Griffin, my band director. He had a saying that, ‘I want to teach you how to work in this town.’ But what he did teach me was how to work anywhere in the world.” - melvin MAESTRO lightford, a composer and 2003 graduate of Nashville School of the Arts. We have a Student and Parent Planned End of the Year Formal Outdoor Dance at the Nashville Zoo planned for May 15th (7-10pm) open to all NSA Students, Staff and Parents and, if I may. I would like to post the link here to purchase tickets? If that is not allowed, I can be DMd for link. I only know a couple of parents and want to get the word out because it’s going to be a blast! It’s at the Nashville Zoo Jungle Terrace Outdoor Venue, gourmet taco dinner catered by Taste Catering and we’ll have a Photo Booth as well as the Carousel rented out, also for the last hour. There are 190 tickets total available and they are $70 each. I hope I’m not stepping on any toes by posting here, if I’m not supposed to, I’ll understand if you delete my post. Thanks so much!
