SHAPE: An Evening Benefitting The Fort Houston Artisan Support Project

Fort Houston is an interdisciplinary workspace offering its participants the opportunity and resources to discover their creative potential. Individual and shared studio spaces, gallery exhibitions, educational courses; all of these components and more come together under the collective vision of Fort Houston.

We are pleased to share the first of several tree sculptures as part of our Nashville Tree Project, an outdoor public art campaign to raise awareness about emerald ash borer and its devastating impacts on our native ash trees. This amazing work by Anthony Heinz May (Oregon) was completed today in Centennial Park. Several more sculptures are scheduled for installation in parks across the city over the next 6 months. Many thanks to Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation for partnering with us on this exciting project, and to Chicago Sculpture International and Metro Arts: Nashville Office of Arts for providing essential guidance and expertise, and to our new friends at The Forge Nashville for allowing our visiting artists to utilize their space. We hope you will visit and enjoy all of the sculptures as they are installed, spread the word about emerald ash borer, and continue to help us plant and preserve Nashville's trees.

Join us in our Sukkah for Under One Roof. Inside, you will find art prepared by 35 local nonprofit organizations. Based on the theme, Tikkun Olam, Repairing the World, each group took a blank canvas and interpreted the value through their own lens. Join us on October 20th for our Artist Reception at 5pm. The exhibit will run until October 27th, so please stop by the auditorium at any time to view it.
