A little tribute to Dolly. 🦋

After hearing the sad news about Dolly Parton this week, I was looking out at the last of the monarch butterflies passing through my garden for the season, and this little painting came to me.

I named it Love Is Like a Butterfly, and through the end of September, 10% of card sales featuring this design will be donated to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. 🩷

I love this dress at The Henry Ford Museum.

Just look at how much fabric was carefully pleated into the base of that bodice, all sewn by hand.

I can't even imagine how long this took. The craftsmanship is incredible!

Thank you Brighton for such a wonderful weekend!

This was one of my favorite moments. Megan has purchased prints from me before, and this weekend she decided to take home her first original painting, August Afternoon. I’m so grateful for the people who continue to follow and support my work!

Apparently I'm not very good at taking weekends off. 😂

I wasn't originally scheduled for an art fair this weekend, but yesterday I unexpectedly found out I'll be joining the Brighton Street Art Fair!

And because apparently adding an art fair to my schedule with two days' notice wasn't enough, I decided this was also an excellent time to paint something new. 😂

Meet August Afternoon, featuring Ronin, who is considerably better than I am at slowing down and enjoying the moment.

I know people like to point out that "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" isn't really true. But I have to admit, I feel ridiculously fortunate that so much of the time, it actually feels true for me.
