Opens tonight! One weekend only!

Parts of our community still have a long way to go in the clean up from Lala. We are hoping though that our show gives us all a chance to take a break from the chaos and come together with our friends and neighbors to share in a bit of laughter.

Opens Friday!

We could all use a good laugh right about now, and this show gives plenty of opportunities to do just that.

And we will be providing some much needed support to Kaʻū ʻOhana Athletics in the process.

Shows postponed to September 18-20.

Our community has shown great fortitude as we recover from the impacts of Hurricane Lala. But we have a long way to go. Our venue, the OV Community Center, in conjunction with Vibrant Hawaii, is aiding in that recovery by serving as a community resilience center. We do not want to interfere in any way with this important effort, so we have made the decision to postpone our show.

We look forward to being able to come together as a community in a few weeks. This great comedy will give us the opportunity to share some laughter, which is said to be great medicine. And we will raise money for a very worthy cause, Kaʻū ʻOhana Athletics.

We will be hosting auditions for Somebody Famous next week.

Whether you have done countless shows before or never done any acting but are curious to try, we would love to have you come audition with us.

Auditions will be held in the classroom downstairs at the Ocean View Community Center. We will have sessions on both Monday and Tuesday, but you only need to attend one session.

No previous acting experience is necessary and no special audition preparation is required. All ages are welcome, but actors should be able to portray characters who range in age from 20-something to 50-something. We will be looking for actors to play 5 female and 2 male roles as we bring this comedy to life.

Not interested in being on stage, but interested in helping out with the show? We will be looking for assistance in all backstage show aspects (lights, sound, stage hands, etc.), so stop by one of the audition sessions and we’ll get you signed up.

Part of our mission here at Ka’u Performing Arts Society is to encourage youth interest in community theatre, whether that be appearing on stage, helping out behind the scenes or just enjoying a show from the audience.

We are thrilled that Aloha Theatre shares in that mission. And we’re thankful that many of Ka’u’s talented teens are able to participate in the Aloha Teen Theatre (ATT) education program.

Those teens and many others have been working hard putting together a hilarious production of Clue. Their hard work culminates this weekend as Clue comes to the stage for just 3 days.

We encourage everyone to see the show, and by using code GETACLUE you get $10 off all tickets.

Do you hear that? It's your last chance to buy Clue tickets calling! This weekend our Aloha Teen Theatre production takes the stage and we couldn't be more excited.

Tickets at alohatheatre.com In collaboration with Ka'u Performing Arts Ka'ū Performing Arts Society we invite you to use code GETACLUE for $10 off, while supplies last!

In the last days of radio, silence is murder. It’s 1952 and mystery is afoot during the live broadcast of the Buck Brick Show at KDED radio. The owner is about to make a decision that could mean the end of the station and the careers of everyone involved. When a body is discovered, they find that dead air is something everyone will pay for. Even with a killer on the loose, the show must go on.

The KHPES Drama Club will present this whodunit in classic radio show fashion. Admission is free, so come be part of the live studio audience where you’ll have a chance to help solve the mystery and win prizes.

But if you cannot make it to the show, hope is not lost. You can still experience the nostalgia of yesteryear entertainment as Ka’u Radio (KAUH-LP 104.7 FM) will be broadcasting the Saturday performance live.

With the Kona storms, Spring break and busy schedules all around, it took us a bit to finally connect with the KHPES Drama Club.

Our sincerest thanks go out again to the Ka’u community for your support of our production of Little Women. Thanks to your generosity. we were able to present the KHPES Drama Club with a check for $1200. That money will go a long way in helping them bring some exciting productions to the KHPES stage.
