My grandmother taught me to cross stitch and I haven't stopped creating art with Fabric, Thread, and Stitches. I have come full circle back to my love of art, quilting, sewing, embroidery, and mixed media collage. As a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I worked in the Design Industry and enjoyed every minute. I had a wonderful mentor, Stan Herman who shared his design experti
se and love of fashion with me. While I worked in the fashion Industry, I also kept my hands in quilting and taught sewing and quilting in a lovely little store in Sayville, NY. After my children were born, I shifted into a career in education. I spent my tenure as an Elementary School Teacher, a Reading Specialist, and a Principal, an Adjunct Professor, and ultimately I earned my Doctorate in Literacy Studies. The move provided me with a new home, a new sewing room, and time on my hands. My days were quickly filled and much of that time I spent sewing. I joined the Grand Strand Quilt Guild and explored wonderful quilt and fabric stores. Accent Sewing became one of my favorite quilt shops. The people are wonderful, the classes are fun, and that's where I bought my first Bernina Sewing Machine. Fast forward 3 years and I wanted to teach quilting again. I was delighted to be accepted into The Studio 180 Certified Instructor Training. Last August, I became a Studio 180 CI. It was such a great experience and I am so proud to join the ranks of such talented Studio 180 Certified Instructors. I love teaching quilters and I love sharing the magic of Deb Tucker's tools!
