Before the lights, the accolades and 40 seasons of entertainment, there was this little building on Highway 17 in Surfside Beach. ❤️

In 1986, Calvin Gilmore opened the original Carolina Opry with a cast of just 12 entertainers and musicians. From the outside, it may not have looked like much, but inside, something special was taking shape.

The Carolina Opry became Myrtle Beach’s first live music show and remained the only one for seven years, helping pave the way for the entertainment destination the Grand Strand would become.
Forty seasons later, the stage may look a little different, but the commitment to incredible live entertainment is still going strong.

The Carolina Opry and Time Warp are on stage through October 24. Come experience a piece of Myrtle Beach history for yourself. 🎶✨
