I wrote a “first album era” Tyson Leslie song (I haven’t written a good power pop song in years!) yesterday and I’m going to start tracking it today. It’s sooooo fun too. I’m very excited to share it with everyone when it’s done. I’m going to demo it out and then take it to one of my favorite producer/songwriters to get it “done for real” probably sometime next month.
Additionally, I’m planning to release a piano/vocal EP in the spring to hopefully be worked on with some of my favorite producers in town.
I just got hit up for a Stevie Winder tribute show later this month. And I’ve got to learn the entire “Music From The Elder” by KISS among other songs for KISS Cancer Goodbye III in early December.
And I’m sending some auditions videos into a couple of different artists for some potential 2025 things if I’m chosen.
Busy but very fulfilling times ahead.
Last night we had a very small crowd, but it turned out to be an amazing evening for me anyway regardless of what was happening on the tv. It was a fun show. We always get to try new things and test our abilities and limits. We played “Hellion / Electric Eye” with no rehearsal and executed it pretty well! We played “No More Tears” the best we’ve (well I’ve) ever played it. It was badass.
Props to our sick band members for never phoning it in and always delivering a great show even when your throats are burning and bodies are aching.
Today is a heavy day for a lot of my friends. And I support and love them. And if anyone needs to talk or vent or whatever, call me. Text me. PM me. Whatever you need.
It’s also a joyous day for a lot of people I know. And while most know where I stand on this nonsense, people who are rude and awful about it gotta go regardless of where you stand. Because you can’t be all about love and kindness and then be an as***le because things didn’t swing your way. That’s what happened the last time. The guy who will be the guy again screamed “stop the steal!” and if you go that same route, you’re no better than they were.
But those who are civil and kind and who I know to be good human beings in spite of our conflicts on political matters… I cannot just forego years of friendships and remembering when some of you helped me out in a bind, or whatever it is that’s kept you in my life… It just goes much deeper than who you voted for.
One of my closest friends who I’ve know since I was a teenager voted the opposite of my viewpoints and we’ve had several discussions about it. And it’s interesting to have those discussions sometimes to really understand the WHY of other people’s reasoning. This applies so many facets of life really. Understating the “WHY” will make all the difference in how you view the outcome of a situation. It won’t always secure an agreement, but it might just enlighten you enough to come to some kind of civil understanding and remain the friends you were before politics got involved.
As for me? I’m still “the piano man”. I sing songs and create memories for drunk people in bars most nights of the week. And play “rock star” in my ‘spare time’ 😂
I’ll continue to do that and enjoy my life and spend NO time worrying about the negative things when I have so many positive things and people in my life to uplift it and make it better.
