This right here is why we need to keep doing what we've been doing. Thank you to everyone who has joined us to support live music. Each one of you matters. Let's continue to work together and provide a place for independent musicians to share their art with the community.
Hi All. Dan Here.
I am writing with some unfortunate news and the only way I can see to do it is to rip the bandaid off. Art Boutiki will be closing at the end of the year, perhaps sooner pending final discussions with our landlord.
This is not a “The Rent Went WAAAAY Up” situation, our landlord has been more than good to us over the last dozen years and has been above and beyond a great set of people to work with. They were patient with us through Covid and remained committed to us staying where we are. Art Boutiki never fully got past Covid however and that with costs, in particular utilities, spiraling out of control I came to the realization that keeping this place open was not sustainable and we were not one or two good shows from turning things around.
So, I made the decision to close up. My plan is to honor the commitments we have made to people over the fall and early winter and then, if possible, end things with a giant event on New Year’s Eve.
I am hoping that you will come out a few more times to help us enjoy the time we still have together here at the Art Boutiki. We will be fundraising again towards the start of the new year to pay for the repairs needed in this place caused by us turning it into a venue, so maybe keep an eye out for that.
Thanks again for your support. We had a pretty good run of things and while I am sad that things did not turn out better I am very proud of the work we did here, how great the team was and how much the goodwill and support from people like you meant to me and my family.
Hopefully we will see you again before we close.
