Stupid COVID!😡

07/01/2020

After much agonizing, we have decided not to proceed with the PNW Artisan Marketplace at this time. Safety has always been a primary concern in our approach to the market and even if we were able to get permission from the Governor's office to operate in Phase 2, we don't think it will be safe to do right now.

COVID case numbers have been spiking locally and nationally. Skagit County's case numbers have been in the range of 8 or 9 per day, which compared to some places looks pretty good, but based on the current metrics used by WA state for progression through the phases, we cannot see a Phase 3 happening in the near future. With the prudence WA state has shown in its phase progressions, it's more likely that will see a tightening in the restrictions and we just can't be sure we won't get shut down or that customers will feel comfortable coming out.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that we will revisit this idea again.

We want to thank you all for your overwhelming support - we wouldn't have gotten this far without your enthusiasm!

Stay safe and we hope to see you down the road!

Joining us for the full season is Freeborn Metal-Art. I must admit, I'm a little biased, as my yard is full of their fun creations!😉

Andy & Heidi Hill grew up in the PNW. (Andy in Whatcom & Skagit Counties, and Heidi in Snohomish county). They were setup on a blind date by her cousin (perfect match!) and were married shortly after. Andy starting welding at 16yrs. Heidi has always love to draw. Living in the Freeborn area of Stanwood, we started Freeborn Metal Art in 2004 and have been designing and creating, Home and Garden Metal Art ever since! Our Artwork is inspired by Nature and Folklore, we use new and recycled metals and enjoy adding embellishments (glass, paint) to our pieces. We love to attend Street Festivals and Art Shows around the West Coast, we will now be at PNW Artisan Marketplace every weekend (fri-sun) July-Aug.

Another artist that will be joining us for 4 weeks is Louise Magno. Louise is a published photographer with her primary focus on all things nature. Sometimes a piece just begs to let Louise's imagination run wild and she turns it into a graphic piece from her photography and it is picking up quite a following!

Louise shows at several shows throughout the year in Western WA. Her work is found during the annual month long Skagit Valley Tulip Festival at the Tulip Valley Winery on the Memorial Hwy and the Art In A Pickle Barn hosted by Azusa Nursery on Hwy 20. She shows at many other shows during the year and her web site has her current shows listed @ www.naturalmomentsstudio.com.

Marlene Van Beek began making jewelry over twenty years ago. She works from her studio in Whatcom County, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Many of her pieces are hand-knotted, using a cording with open space between the beads. This look has become a signature of her work. Her necklaces, bracelets and earrings are available on her web site, at art shows and in retail shops.

“I enjoy working with glass, mostly made in Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic. Glass is such a wonderful medium, the way it reflects light, and the colors around it. I look forward to searching for new beads, and the challenge of creating pieces that will enhance their beauty.”
