There was a time when virtually everyone had something edible growing in their yards. They also knew where their other foods came from. They knew their butchers, their bakers, and bread makers! In short, people were connected to their food. Over
time we allowed ourselves to be disconnected from our food sources. Microwave dinners and happy meals are convenient ways to consume calories and powerful disrupters to our foodshed. Kids think hamburgers come from Golden Arches, not cows. Adults forget greens grow in the ground, not a freezer case. DIY Backyard Farm is dedicated to showing everyone and anyone that they too can grow delicious, organic edibles right in their own yards. Nothing complicated here, just working with nature and allowing her to give back bountiful rewards and the satisfaction of creating something from almost nothing. Times are a changin’.
