The odd nooks and crannies: underrated, overused, and totally deserving of art.

Where do you think “Autumnal” would fit in, in your home?

This earthy painting felt to me like the colors of fall in the evening. Its a moody piece. I remember the pleasure of mixing those deep umbers and applying then to the canvas with a pallet knife. I love to paint with a pallet knife.

Cave people were the original home decorators.

Some of the oldest known art in the world was found in the Chauvet Cave in France. Early humans painted lions, mammoths, and rhinos in charcoal and ochre, using the contours of the rock to bring the animals to life.

Many lifetimes later, we still use the walls around us to tell stories, express ourselves, and mark our time here.

Some things never go out of style.

"Grey Pond"

As I painted this piece, I wanted to create the feeling of seeing the surface of a pond. Ponds are quiet places and this pond had the light of day being reflected on the surface as well as the subtlety of the depth. I love working with grey tones. The surface of this painting , as well as most of my work, has a rich texture.
