MUSICIANS AND PORCH HOSTS:
As we move into spring, TGIF music on the Courthouse stage this Friday and the opening of the Farmers Market this Saturday it's not too early to start thinking about this summer's Play Music on the Porch Day.

This will be Morganton's fourth year participating in this international day of music, which is held every year on the last
Saturday in August.
Last year there was music on over 700 porches in 70 countries...and here in Morganton over 50 musicians played on 18 porches all around town.

If you are a musician and would like to just go outside and play music, or you'd like to host music on your porch, send a note to: [email protected]
We will list you on our posters and fliers, give you a yard sign and post your music on the worldwide map.

For more information on the worldwide event go to: www.playmusicontheporchday.com

We’re proud to honor our native son—musician, songwriter, and producer Johnny Bristol—with his place on the North Carolina Musician Murals Trail.

We’re also thrilled to highlight the work of artist Scott Nurkin, whose remarkable murals celebrate so many of our state’s musical legends — and now include one right here in Morganton.

A phenomenal addition to our downtown!
The new Johnny Bristol mural on the side of Jones Drugs celebrates one of Morganton’s most talented natives. Johnny Bristol—musician, songwriter, and producer—was best known for his influential work with Motown in the 1960s. During that time, he collaborated with Harvey Fuqua on iconic hits for Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, including “Ain't No Mountain High Enough” (1967), “Your Precious Love” (1967), and “If I Could Build My Whole World Around You” (1968).
We are incredibly proud to honor his legacy in the heart of our community.

Thank you to the Morganton Cultural Arts Commission for bringing to town the work of artist Scott Nurkin, whose remarkable murals celebrate so many of our state’s musical legends — and now include one right here in Morganton.
