"Breaking Camp"
My husband, Jim, is a hunter and yearly travels to Colorado for elk hunting. Once again we have "beasts of burden." Their work in the mountains is tough as they haul awkward, heavy packs or awkward heavy riders up the steep terrain. Jim and I took two pleasure trips with two horses and two mules up those slopes of Colorado. The mules were especially wonderful. Mules are more intelligent than horses - small compensation for their less than elegant selves!

"Bottles"
Van Gogh said that a good way to study art was to paint still lifes...He did quite well painting them, however only after his death! He never sold a painting, but now is the most loved artist around the world...

"Blue Velvet"
This image harkens back to an earlier time. The lady is riding "side saddle". Her right leg is hooked over a horn on the saddle (a little like a horn on a western saddle, but larger). Her left foot is anchored firmly against the left stirrup, therefore she is quite secure. Ladies in "olden times" always rode in this fashion as it was "unlady like" to ride astride.

"Back in Time"
Work horses doing the hard job of pulling a wagon up one of the Pennsylvania mountains. These large, placid animals possess superior strength. They work together as a team. The farmer knows the temperament of each and he arranges them according to their assets. We can yet enjoy the sight of such a team in some of the farm lands of Pennsylvania. In Nippenose Valley near my home there are numerous teams hard at work with spring plowing.
Visit Valley Gallery, 2880 Quarry Road, South of Jersey Shore in Nippenose Valley to see some of my originals in person.

"Fisherman" This painting was actually done by my Grandmother Wright, my father's mother. She was an artist. I had little art lessons in her studio when I was a very small child. My Mother once told me that Grandmother Wright admired the Impressionists (her art career followed a short time after they came to the fore). My mother also said that Grandmother Wright lamented that she couldn't paint like the impressionists...I do so wish I could show her my art today - my approach to painting is perhaps closer to what she would have liked to do. I also very much admire the impressionist's creations and have studied them and so perhaps some of their influence shows in my work.

"10 Thousand Feet"
My friend, Deb, and I spent 10 days in Colorado on two occassions. We both sketched the gorgeous scenery. This day was particularly powerful with the white clouds billowing up to the heavens.
