Meet: Anika Solveig, Co-Producer of This Could be Different: a short play festival of imagined realities

Anika is a director, actor, teacher and recent transplant to Montclair. As a director Anika has worked with Swandive, The Flea Theater, Amios and San Francisco Shakespeare Co. She is the Director of Classical and Period Acting at AMDA in NYC and sometimes hosts Loui Movement Technique workshops in the Tri-State area. As an actress, Anika has performed regionally with Frank Theater at the Guthrie in Minneapolis, Shakespeare Orange County, New Swan Shakespeare Co., and with Counter-Balance Theater Co. In New York, she has performed with Barefoot Theatre, Brick-a-brack, Looking Glass, Amios, terraNOVA, and Panoply Lab. Member of AEA.

Jace Pastras is a transmasc multihyphenate theater artist inspired by art’s power to heal and cultivate community. He received a BFA in Acting from Montclair State University with a minor in Creative Writing. He is a director and choreographer, interested in collaborative new forms of storytelling. Becca is an actor, improvisor, singer, teaching artist, and mom. She has performed in NYC and regionally with companies such as Vivid Stage, The Brooklyn Generator, Luna Stage, Arden Theatre, Mt. Gretna Theatre, and Bakerloo Theatre Project. A 2025 recipient of an Individual Artist Grant Fellowship from NJ Council of the Arts. Produced off-Broadway, internationally, and nationwide in Seattle, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, L.A. NYC development at Playwrights Horizons, Second Stage, Rattlestick, Roundabout, Urban Stages; regionally at The Kennedy Center, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Geva, Victory Gardens, Palm Beach Dramaworks. Winner: Beverly Hills Theatre Guild Julie Harris Playwriting Award, the Israel Baran Award, and a runner up at the Sundance Playwriting Lab, O’Neill Playwrights Conference, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, the Heideman Award and Princess Grace Fellowship. Meet: Betsy True (co-founder of Swan Dive)

BETSY TRUE (Director) has had a diverse career in the theatre as an award-winning director, writer, dramaturg and actor that has spanned over 40 years. She has directed and helped develop numerous projects in NYC, NJ and LA. Her work has been performed at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, HERE Arts Center, Alliance Rep, Manhattan Rep, Downtown Urban Arts Festival, Hudson Guild, Dreamcatcher Rep, The Secret Theatre, The Chain Theatre, The Midtown International Theatre Festival, Strawberry Festival, Vivid Stage, The Whitefire Theatre, The Barrow Group, Fresh Produce’d LA and The Bendheim Performing Arts Center, among others. As an actor, she has performed on Broadway, off-Broadway, in National Tours and in numerous regional theatres across the country. During her tenure at NJPAC, she served as Artistic Director for summer programs and Senior Director of Artistic Faculty and Curriculum Development helping to facilitate/create programs for underserved young artists in Newark. Her passion is developing new works with kids of all ages and sharing the joy of creating with those who feel they don’t have a voice in the world.

Meet: Phoebe Farber (co-founder of Swan Dive!)

Phoebe is a playwright whose work has been seen at Dixon Place, The International Fringe Festival—NYC (Best Bet), Emerging Artists Theatre, Luna Stage, The Depot Theater, The Bickford Theater, Jersey City Theater Center, The Irvington Short Play Festival, Up Theater and Nora’s Playhouse. Playwriting fellowships include The Emerging Women Playwrights of Writers Theatre of New Jersey and The Ground and Field Theater Festival at UC Davis. Commissions include Luna Stage and Vivid Stage Theater Company. Her play Psychodrama was part of the 2019 season at Vivid Stage. She is currently working on a musical (as book writer) about the generational divide between older and younger feminists called Out of the Garden. She is the recipient of an artist grant with The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and a semi finalist for Premier Stages Play Festival. Phoebe is a professor at Montclair State University and co-author of a book about the creative process called Igniting the Spark: Activating Your Creative Mind. She is co-founder of Building Creative Minds, an organization that leads workshops in creative thinking as a tool for resilience and empowerment. Phoebe is a Fulbright Scholar and a presenter at TEDX Montreal.
