I just had the most amazing residency open house yesterday, sharing my new work-in-progress, What the Water Remembers, in one of the most beautiful beach towns.

I cannot thank kathybattista enough for making this residency Kathy Battista such a meaningful experience. From walking along the beach with me as I researched the local landscape, readings in the Branford library, collecting local natural materials, to trolley rides, introducing me to the community, and connecting me with people working passionately for different local causes, she opened up this place to me in such a generous and personal way.

This is truly one of the most special communities I have encountered—a place where people don’t hesitate to help one another, and where mi casa es su casa feels genuinely lived rather than simply said.

I still can’t believe how many people came to yesterday’s open house. It says so much about what a kind friend and extraordinary human being Kathy is, but also about the incredibly strong bonds within this community.

So many talented, intellectual, artistic, and deeply engaged people came through. I left with so many inspiring conversations, new ideas, and unexpected connections. I came here thinking I was making a work about water, landscape, memory, and interconnected living systems—and somehow, through the process, the community itself became part of what the work taught me about interconnectedness.

Feeling incredibly grateful for this experience, and excited to see where What the Water Remembers goes from here.

I just spent the most wonderful month in China, where I met so many kind, generous, supportive and talented artists, made new friends, and completed my residency at Acentric Space Shanghai.

My installation, Release, Rise (《放·升》), was inspired by the historic Fangsheng Bridge in Zhujiajiao.

In Chinese, 放 means to release, let go, or loosen our attachment to inherited structures, expectations, and accumulated memories. 升 means to rise or ascend. Together, they suggest what becomes possible after release: expanded awareness, inner wisdom, and the possibility of transformation.

The project also responds to Zhujiajiao’s waterways, architecture, ecology, and its philosophy of integrating agriculture and education to sustain the prosperity of the town and the continuity of its traditions and cultural richness.

By lifting the river into the air, I hope to make the familiar unfamiliar—to create a space where we can pause, look more deeply, release what we carry, and imagine how we, too, might rise.

Thank you to ACENTRICSPACE® and everyone who made this residency such a meaningful experience. I’m deeply grateful to have shared this journey with such an inspiring community of artists. k4shuw biu Ina Lee “PIGSY | Neo- Expressionist Artist”

My fav prototype outcome from this ITP Camp is this kinetic sculpture, as part of the interactive installation “An Eulogy to Earth” — I finally got to work with the very talented Christine Chang, who worked so hard and went through many reiterations of the 3D model designs and prints to get this kinetic sculpture working. This sculpture will be powered by participants’ brainwave data through EEG headbands in the next phase of development.

Thank you Ki(an), Shubha Jagannatha, and for filming this beautiful video, which is the base for the projected guided ritual. Thank you to JACK¥ for helping with projection mapping. Thank you to Ray Wang and Yueran Zhao for documenting the videoThank you Kiane and Zea for sewing the screen. Thank you to Riho(Rio), Philip McAllister, Colonel Panix, Steven Keyes, Logan Gittelson, Nanae_Itoi , basiakubas hillary and everyone else who helped with the electrical wiring. And thank you to Anna Collevecchio and Matt for so much emotional support.

I’m honored to share the debut of our latest prototype, A Eulogy to Earth, at NYU ITP CAMP ITP Camp Show All Things Show 2026.

This interactive installation is an ode, a ritual, and a gentle farewell to the Earth we have taken for granted — and an invitation to remember that we are not separate from nature, but deeply woven into it.

Through breath, movement, projection, fabric, kinetic paper-cut forms, and EEG brainwave data, An Eulogy to Earth invites participants to gather in a shared ceremony of gratitude, reflection, and reconnection. Together, our collective presence and brainwaves influence the presentation of the installation, creating a living reminder of our interdependence with one another and with the planet that sustains us.

Please join us tomorrow for the prototype debut:

Grateful for the unexpected paths that open when we keep showing up 🌱

Honored to be a semi-finalist for the In Situ Polyculture Commons Remote Residency—and through this journey, to be invited into the Pollinator.coop May 2026 cohort.

A gentle reminder to myself: every application, every “no,” is not a closed door—but a window opening somewhere else. Sometimes wider, sometimes exactly where we’re meant to grow next.

Thankful for this unfolding path, for the communities that hold space, and for the chance to keep building, connecting, and dreaming forward.
