Noche de Poesía

Gracias a todos los que participaron, contribuyeron y disfrutaron con nosotros ayer en otra hermosa noche de poesía, arte, amigos, alegría, conocidos, comunidad y nuevos por conocer. Agosto nos sorprendió con lluvias que ahuyentaron el calor para una noche maravillosa. Gillian Wegener, Gary Thomas, Ellie Lopez y Melchor Sahagun III nos deleitaron y serenaron con poesía para todos mientras que 18 poetas nos hicieron sentir todo tipo de emociones durante el micrófono abierto, especialmente nuestro último miembro. 🤍💛

Esperamos verlos la próxima Noche. Viernes 25 de septiembre @7:30-10pm. Las puertas abren a las 7:00.

We are grateful to everyone who participated, contributed and everyone who joined us yesterday for another beautiful night of poetry, art, joy, friends, community, old and new faces. August surprised us with morning showers that gave way to a perfect summer evening. Gillian Wegener, Gary Thomas, Ellie Lopez and Melchor Sahagun III delighted and serenaded us with poetry for all while 18 poets made us feel all sorts of emotions during the open mic, especially the last participant. 🤍💛

We hope to see you next Poetry Night. Friday, September 25 @7:30-10pm. Doors open @7:00.

We look forward to welcoming five more poets to our garden this month. Among them former Modesto poet laureate and cofounder of MoSt Poetry, Gillian Wegener; Melchor Sahagun III, author of "Sorry I'm Late"; Ellie Lopez, author of "Chillona"; Fresno poet laureate Aideed Medina, and founding member of MoSt and author of "All the Connecting Lights" and "O Yes We Breathe", Gary Thomas.

Bring a friend and a poem.

Estamos muy emocionadas de recibir a cinco poetas más en nuestro jardín. Ven a ver a la antigua poeta laureada de Modesto y cofundadora de Modesto-Stanislaus Poetry Center, Gillian Wegener; Melchor Sahagun III, autor de “Perdón por llegar tarde (“Sorry I’m Late”) y ver si llega a tiempo; autora de “Chillona”, Ellie Lopez; poeta laureada de Fresno Aideed Medina; y cofundador de MoSt Poetry y autor de “All the Connecting Lights" y "O Yes We Breathe", Gary Thomas.

Les damos gracias (un poquito tarde) a los cinco poetas que nos acompañaron en nuestra Noche de Poesía el mes de julio — Stella Beratlis, Cristina Sandoval, Itzel Xochicuicatl, Tara Rico y Sergio Ramos Avalos.
Julio fue sin duda la noche de poesía más grande con la participación de 16 poetas en el micrófono abierto, muchos de los quienes leyeron por primera vez en nuestro jardín.

We want to give (a slightly late) thanks to the five poets who honored us with their poetry in the month of July — Stella Beratlis, Cristina Sandoval, Itzel Xochicuicatl, Tara Rico and Sergio Ramos Avalos.
July was undoubtedly the biggest night we've had with 16 poets on the open mic! It was an honor to have so many of them read their work for the first time in our garden.

Our first Noche de Poesía of 2026 on May 29th. Thank you to everyone who participated – our featured poets, our open mic poets, many who read for the first time, and, of course, everyone in the audience. We are excited to welcome you to our second Noche next Friday, June 26. Door open at 6:30pm and reading starts at 7:00pm. Bring a friend, bring a poem, and enjoy a wonderful evening with us.

Nuestra primera Noche de Poesía del 2026, celebrada el 29 de mayo. Gracias a todos los que participaron– los destacados, los poetas que leyeron en el micrófono abierto, algunos por primera vez, y por supuesto a la audiencia que nos acompañó esta bella noche. Esperamos con emoción la próxima noche el viernes 26 de junio.
