What an incredible night for Sheography and the Sacred Spaces online photography exhibition!
A sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the “Opening Night with the Artists” webinar last night. Thank you for celebrating and encouraging the powerful voices, stories, and sacred spaces shared by the 16 featured artists. Your presence made this milestone in Sheography’s history even more special to us.
And huge congratulations to the 12 artists (pictured here) who offered thoughtful insight into their work and what sacred spaces means to them during last night’s presentation.
If you missed last night’s special event, you can watch the recording from the Sheography website.
We also invite you to explore the Sacred Spaces online exhibition. It’s more than a collection of images. This interactive, virtual exhibition is a celebration of creativity, connection, and the power of women experiencing the world through their own lens.
Take a moment to immerse yourself in the gorgeous imagery these women have created. Then please share it with your communities so the light, beauty, and inspiration found within this exhibition can continue to inspire.

Sheography™ is proud to announce that Sacred Spaces, Sheography’s first ever online exhibition, is now live!

Featuring sixteen Sheography™ alumnae from across the United States and Canada, this beautiful collection of thirty-one photographic prints explores the beauty, resilience, and meaning found in the natural places that shape us. Through diverse perspectives and deeply personal imagery, Sacred Spaces celebrates the profound connection between women and the wild spaces that inspire strength, reflection, and stewardship.

This is no ordinary show! This three-dimensional, and interactive exhibition invites viewers to reflect on what “sacred” means—personally, spiritually, and communally—while honoring the landscapes that deserve our protection.

The online exhibition, which starts Sheography’s 10th anniversary celebrations, is available for public viewing now through June 29, 2026.

Please join us for the free “Opening Night with the Artists” webinar on Thursday, May 14 at 7 PM ET. This 90-minute live event offers the chance to connect with 13 of the participating artists and hear their voices about their work. Through a slideshow, mediated conversation, and questions from the audience, you’ll gain deeper insight into how each photograpHER interprets “sacred spaces” in her own way.

All are welcome—women, men, children, pets, bubbles, and pie!

See the exhibition and register for Thursday’s webinar at www.sheography.com/exhibitions

We look forward to celebrating photography and sacred spaces with you!

A grand thank you to the fabulous women who joined me on the recent Vermilion Cliffs/Marble Canyon Sheography photography workshop in northern Arizona. Thanks to for being a wonderful home base for us for our trip!

We explored the geological wonders along the mighty Colorado River while learning more about histograms, depth of field, filters, moving water techniques, macro techniques intentional camera movement, multiple exposure (plaids!) and more. A couple Sheographers moved from making photos in Auto to Manual mode! Huge! 💪🥳👏

We also covered the creative process, the visual journey, and how mindfulness, metaphorical association/conceptual blending, and using visual language can help us creatively express ourselves in visual form.

All in all, from birthdays and avocado pie to spotting condors and watching the Artemis II launch, our workshop rocked! It was “marble-less!” 😆

Next on the schedule is my last Sheography workshop for the year: “In the Footsteps of Georgia O’Keeffe” in New Mexico this May!

BUT! Something really special, sacred even, is coming before then…

Mark your calendars for May 14 from 7-9 pm ET.

We’re gonna “Put the HER in the photograpHER®” in a new space…

Stay tuned for more!

Thank you to the amazing women who attended my recent “The Joy of Little Things: Macro Photography” Sheography photography workshop.

While exploring the glorious Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ, we practiced how to pay attention to smaller compositions, make personal connections with our scenes, control our focus (in single and multiple exposures), create movement through intentional camera movement, use new equipment, and gained confidence and inspiration for macro photography.

We braved the heat wave in Phoenix, but these women were the ones bringing their fire. This group showed up with their talents, creativity, and curiosity to learn new things about macro photography. It was a joy to spend this time with them!

Excited to see more of their work in our online image review this weekend.

Then next on the agenda: Vermilion Cliffs/Marble Canyon!

And!! I just had a spot open on my “In the Footsteps of Georgia O’Keeffe” Sheography workshop this May. Who’d like to join us for more photography, creativity, learnings, and laughs in New Mexico?!

Three cheers for the three outstanding Sheography workshops in the last three months!

Big thanks and extra slices of pie to all the amazing Sheographers who joined us for the “New River Gorge” trip in West Virginia in April, the “In the Footsteps of Georgia O’Keeffe” at the Ghost Ranch in New Mexico in May, and the first ever “In O’Keeffe’s Backyard Alumna Creative Retreat” at Casa del Sol at Ghost Ranch in June. What a joy and privilege it was to spend time with all of you in these glorious places and expand our knowledge of ourselves and our photography (and wildflowers and doors and “obnoxious crops” 😂).

That’s a wrap on Sheography trips for 2024. Stay tuned for the announcement of 2025 workshops within the next month. Keep learning and keep shooting! Hope you can join us for more fun then!

As the summer heat relents, sending cool thoughts to all the photographers out there. Many thanks to Sheographer Christine Costello for this beautifully chill photograph from the 2020 Winter in Acadia Sheography workshop for reminding us what cooler days look like.

From Christine’s original post: “More from The Winter in Acadia Sheography workshop with in February. These were some abstracts from the morning we went to Duck Pond. I could’ve spent all day there.”

If you share a photo from one of our Sheography workshops and would like to be featured in the Sheography social media channels, please tag your post with or . I’d love to show off your work!

Who’s ready for more photographic adventures?! 🙋‍♀️ Get ready because I’m announcing the 2024 Sheography (and co-ed) photography workshops TOMORROW (June 21) via the Sheography newsletter.

If you’re not already set up to receive my email announcements, head over to the bottom of the Sheography website at www.sheography.com to sign up.

Those on the Sheography newsletter get priority on registering for the Sheography trips ahead of my main newsletter community and the public. Since my workshops tend to sell out quickly, this is a great way to get in on them.

We’re headed to a couple new places next year, and you’re invited! Stay tuned to see what's in store for Sheography in 2024! (Fun is always on the schedule!)

In May, we had not one but two awesome Sheography workshops! The second was the “In the Footsteps of Georgia O’Keeffe” Sheography based out of a the Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu, NM. Unlike the first, Southern Oregon Coast where all were new to Sheography, eight of the nine participants were return Sheographers (one of whom I’ve known since “before camera” and some of whom have been on my trips over the last 12 years!!)

So this crew knew the drill. Up before sunrise. Out past sunset. BUT! We explored the gorgeous multicolored rocks, babbling creeks, and swaying cottonwood trees at a more mindful and relaxed pace than my normal workshops.

AND! We gained inspiration from Ms. O’Keeffe’s life through private tours of her Abiquiu home, her “backyard “ at the Ghost Ranch (at sunset!), and of her work at the O’Keeffe museum in Santa Fe.

AND! We painted our own pieces of O’Keeffe’s beloved Pedernal. Big thanks Laurie Balliett ( ) for teaching our half-day plein air oil painting class (while braving fierce winds!). She helped us see how framing our scenes, incorporating shapes in our arrangements, and conducting a value study (all visualizations!) can aid our observations and interpretations of the landscape no matter the tool we use. We learned much for our photography!

It was such and honor and thrill to see these Sheographers continue to discover, examine, and refine their own photographic paths during this trip. Thanks so much, my friends, for sharing this enlightening and motivating experience with me and all of us. 💙🫧
