Pssst! We still have a handful of fired ceramic pieces waiting to go home with their makers that attended the free workshop at Desert Sun Ceramics during the Red Rock Arts Festival in October.

We’ll hold onto your pieces until December 12th, and then will be quietly donating the leftover array of ceramic witches hats and pumpkins to the good people at WabiSabi.

Stop by our building Monday through Thursday between 8am and 5pm. We’re working some odd hours with the upcoming holidays and Holiday Craft Fair, so please call ahead to be sure one of our staff members will be on site. Our phone number is (435) 259-6272 and the address here is 111 E 100 N. Our office is downstairs to the right.

For this Saturday’s ArtWalk, Gallery Moab will be showing new acrylic paintings by November Guest Artist Shari Michaud. Her work exaggerates, simplifies, and dramatizes the landscape and its flora and fauna, creating whimsical and edgy stories that can be interpreted in different ways. Also in November, Gallery Moab introduces jewelry by new member Crystal Honour. Her dainty creations use small gauge wire and petite stones.

The final ArtWalk of the year is next Saturday evening from 5-8pm! Stroll around town and browse artwork at six participating locations.

The Moab Museum (118 E Center St) will be highlighting “Block Prints by Everett Ruess,” a traveling exhibition from the Utah Department of Arts and Museums. Everett Ruess, a young artist and writer, disappeared mysteriously near Escalante, UT in 1934 at age 20. His writings and exquisite woodblock prints conveyed his deep appreciation for the natural beauty of canyon country, and this exhibit offers a window into his creative legacy.

The image of Ruett’s desk features one of his dramatic prints and also a letter. The image is from the University of Utah J. Willard Marriott Library.
