A simpler time where neighbors still talk to each other and hold bake sales for the PTA. My paintings are a snapshot of each town, showing the qualities that make them each unique.

This painting is the first of a new abstract series titled for now "At the Border". I wanted to show the contrast between the vibrancy and intensity of the migrant people and the rigidity and structure of the barrier. In 10 days I’ll be leaving Missoula after 32 years to start a new chapter in Arizona and to be closer to my mom. Not having to spend another winter like the last one, well that’s just a bonus.

I wanted to let everyone who follows the Main Street project know that it will continue, but I’ll be taking a hiatus on new paintings unless I have a commission for a town.

I have met the finest people and have had the greatest memories in Montana and it will always remain my home. I will keep up my SM as best I can with new work and updates to what is happening down south, and feel free to message me if you’ll be in the area.

BILLINGS
I don't have many ties to Billings other than a dear friend who runs the Billings Studio Theatre; and another old friend I went to art school with who owns Heins Creative with his twin brother. On my way to visit the Heins studio, I came across the intersection in the painting, and its perfect light. I love the canopy of scaffolding and its big-city feel, because Billings is by far the closest Montana has to a "city," barely making this designation by 10,000 people. Imagine the 4th largest state in the country being the 9th least populated!

The Billings original is available to purchase for $500; and giclees are available for $150. Both are 20" x 10", and the giclees are signed and numbered.

When my daughter was little, her favorite road trip was to Philipsburg. We used to have burgers and shakes at Doe Brothers, a 50's style diner, then go across the street for dessert at the infamous Sweet Palace. This little mining town turned tourist town has so much charm. It's colorful historic buildings have always reminded me of the Main Street at Disneyland. If sweets aren't your thing, Philipsburg also has a great summer theatre, sapphire gallery, and a brewery where a greyhound rescue named Daniel will greet you at the door.
