Sharing my latest logo design!

I appreciate people who still recognize the value of professional design and trust the creative process, especially for something as important as your brand's visual introduction.

While AI and online design tools have made it easier than ever to explore ideas, there's still something to be said for working with a designer who brings strategy, intention, and creative problem-solving to the table.

For this project, I also developed alternate logo variations and a few supporting graphics to help her establish a cohesive visual identity as her business grows.

As we’ve seen this week while watching the artists at Carve Wars, the natural resources of a river valley can be transformed into unexpected works of art. Inspired by the carvers, I wanted to create something by hand myself, so I finally finished my summer project!

Growing up in Minot, I never paid much attention to the Mouse River. We weren’t allowed to swim in it, and we didn’t use it for recreation. A few years ago, I started discovering the river by kayak. Over the past few years, I’ve had more opportunities to appreciate it in different ways; gathering with friends along its banks, admiring it from horseback, and adventuring through it when the water levels were low.

Never did I imagine the beautiful things hidden beneath the surface.

I gathered these shells from the Mouse/Souris River, and after some serious scrubbing, I uncovered the sparkle beneath all that mud and muck. A couple of jigsaw cuts, a whole lot of adhesive, and a little patience brought my “shell fish” to life!

👏👏👏 Hey, hey!! Can we get a round of applause for environmental graphic design?! 👏👏👏

It isn’t often that I get the opportunity to take my graphic design work off the screen and into the built environments we create at Ackerman-Estvold, but MSU’s new Beaver Dam remodel gave me that chance!

As part of the new Student Center our architecture and interior design team, along with the folks at MSU, envisioned a unique feature celebrating 113 years of campus life: a large-scale mural of former students and moments from MSU’s history.

Thanks to MSU’s Rick Heit for coordinating and helping provide the incredible library of historic images that made this possible.

In terms of sheer physical scale, this is probably the largest graphic design project I’ve worked on, and it’s pretty darn fun to see something designed on my computer come to life at this size. 😊

A little graphic design + architecture + interior design + history, all coming together in one space. I love when the disciplines get to overlap!

(This project was created for MSU as an employee of Ackerman-Estvold. For those that aren't aware...that's my full-time gig.😊)
