HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY WARHOL!

We're thrilled to announce we’ve been awarded a multi-year grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, which is major support for our next two programs!

We celebrated him, and the exciting news, with a portrait session 🖤 Models: Erin, Pamela, Kate, Neal, Syd, Katie, Summer. Photos by Erin & Kate! Shoutout to El Norteño for their lovely patio backdrop and to our friend SP for suggesting we apply!

2027 ART SHANTY PROJECTS OPEN CALL 
Art Shanty Projects invites music-makers, poets, builders, scientists, dancers, puppeteers, writers, dreamers, activists, outdoors-people, conversationalists, silent practitioners, craftspeople, storytellers, and creative people of any kind to propose new and innovative ways to engage artistically with the public in the social context of a village on a frozen lake!

Additional mentorship and community event opportunities available to selected shanty artists

🍔🍻Head to the Lowbrow on Monday night to grab a bite or a beverage and hang out amongst other shantyfans! 10% of proceeds from 4-9pm will support Art Shanty Projects! TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS! LET’S PACK THE PLACE!

Shout out to the Lowbrow for making it delicious and easy to support local orgs. And for having scratch-made food with sustainably grown ingredients including options for vegetarians, vegans & gluten-freegans 😍

JOB APPLICATIONS DUE IN ONE WEEK!

Cool off with art shanties and join our crew! Art Shanty Projects is currently hiring for our 2027 program.

We are specifically looking for someone with interest and experience in managing volunteers on program days, in addition to the collaborative production work of coordinating and implementing ASP program logistics.

Help make the Art Shanty village come to life and support tens of thousands of visitors!

This is a seasonal contract position with an estimated 182 hours. The majority of the work is done on site in January and February. Starting rate is $22/hour.

ART SHANTY PROJECTS 2027 comes together because of the generous support of a few grant funders, several local community partnerships, and largely through the ongoing commitment of modest gifts from many, many individuals like you.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

This Cultural Districts Arts Fund activation is funded, in part, by the City of Minneapolis Arts & Cultural Affairs Department.
