Thank you to everyone who came out to our soft opening during Fresh Art Tour and the Artists’ Reception for A Matter of Light at Seasons Gallery last weekend! We had a blast and were so honored by all of your support and words of encouragement! Great River Press will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday this June from 11am to 4pm while we work diligently on the finishing touches for our Grand Opening Celebration on July 25!

Tomorrow, June 5th, is a big day! I’ll be soft opening my new studio, Great River Press, in Stockholm, WI for Fresh Art Tour(Fri, Sat, Sun: 10-5). This is truly a SOFT opening as most of my studio is still in boxes, but all my new art will be on the walls and you’ll be able to check out all the hard work Kyle and I have done in the building over the winter and spring!

Tomorrow is also the Artist’s Reception at Seasons Gallery for A Matter of Light, an exhibition of my newest prints and the pottery of the incomparable Amy Von Bargen! The reception is from 5 to 8… and if you’ve been paying attention, that means I have to be in two places at once, but thanks to the assistance of my lovely partner, Kyle Axtell and dear friend, Beth Jones Carreno I think I can perform the magic trick!

Hope to see you tomorrow along one of our great rivers!

Thank you to my fantastic and generous family and friends who took time out of their holiday last weekend to move my studio! Everything arrived safely including my beloved Takach Press and studio plants. Great River Press (my Stockholm studio) is now crammed with a chaos of boxes, art, studio furniture and plants while Kyle and I begin the final push to soft open for Fresh Art Tour … there’s a lot more to do even after the tour so we’ve given ourselves some time to work on all the finish work before my Grand Opening on July 25th! Today I’m making a whole bunch of new art cards from the proofs of my newest works! They will be available at Art-A-Whirl this weekend at my final event in my NE Mpls Studio (Thorp Bldg. Studio 137) before I move down the river to Stockholm, WI! These cards are very limited by the scale and composition of the primary print as well as the number of proofs (test prints) the edition produces. Once these fellas are gone, they are gone forever, just like my editioned works.

May 15-17 is Art-A-Whirl (my last event in the Thorp Building) and then I’ll be turning my focus to the move to Stockholm! I finished Edge of Dawn today… this woodcut was inspired by the return of swans and other water fowl to Lake Pepin and the magical vernal pools up on the bluffs. I’ve been spending a lot of time down in Stockholm preparing the building for the big studio move so it’s not surprising I’m already drawing inspiration from the area.

However, I’m still working in my NE Mpls studio. I’ll be there through Art-A-Whirl, my final event before the move. So mark your calendars for May 15-17 and whirl on by the Thorp Building to check out my newest works before I head on down the river!
