Good advice from one of our partners. 🎶🎸🎶It’s getting hot out there, so take off all your clothes. 🎶😎🎸 Wait, maybe not that last part.
Much of the country is dealing with extreme heat right now, and while summer is meant to be enjoyed, it's important to remember that hot weather can put extra stress on your heart and body.
A few simple reminders:
☀️ Drink water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
☀️ Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
☀️ Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon.
☀️ Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
☀️ Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone living alone.
☀️ Pay attention to symptoms like dizziness, unusual fatigue, shortness of breath, or feeling lightheaded.
For those living with heart valve disease, aortic disease, heart failure, or other heart conditions, heat and dehydration can be especially challenging.
Taking care of your heart isn't just about doctor visits and medications. Sometimes it's as simple as drinking an extra glass of water, finding a cool place to rest, and listening to what your body is telling you.
Stay safe, stay cool, and take care of one another.
