I wrote a few new songs recently. “Little Miracles” is a table prayer or round for this season of gratitude. Thank you, Mother Earth, for teaching us reciprocity and generosity!
I sat in front of one of the raised beds I tended to this Summer to record this. If you listen closely you can hear my dog, Luna, sneeze at the end!

Big recovery milestone today - I jogged for over a mile! It felt great! And when I came home I had the idea to turn my excess harvest into a community garden box for my apartment complex. A neighbor was so excited about my box they wanted to take a photo of me next to it! How cool I now have a picture of me on my first jog day!

When I wake up in the morning I have a cortisol rush on my hands. If I manage to get out of my bed and out of my head, it can help me be quite productive. Sometimes I dive into housework. Sometimes I dive into writing and coursework for my coaching training. Sometimes I meditate and meet the anxious-urgent feeling of cortisol with a commitment to equanimity.

This morning I was particularly disgusted with the thoughts my cortisol-mind was playing on repeat, and I decided it would feel good to move - it would feel good to jog. I hadn’t jogged since 2010 when I was pregnant with my oldest. Some birth-related injuries kept me from jogging after that, and then ME/CFS made jogging unrealistic starting in 2018.

It felt so good to hear the familiar sound of my shoes on pavement. My whole body felt good, felt strong. I have so many beautiful memories of going for a run on a warm Summer morning and all those memories were there again. I felt like a younger version of myself.

I am not worried about PEM or a crash. If I do experience something like that I’ll stay calm and reassure my body it’s safe. I’ve done just as much physical activity before - I know my endurance and strength are there. I just haven’t specifically jogged until now. I trust I will be totally fine.

And the community garden box is popular! By the time I went upstairs and came back down there were already two neighbors there picking up what they wanted. “We’re having fried rice with fresh basil tonight!”

May Day celebration in Powderhorn, Minneapolis, is always joyous and the parade is always on point. This year, it feels a bit more joyous, a bit more cathartic, and a bit more like we know how to build the beloved community, the world we are working towards.

At the memorials for Renee Good last night and Alex Pretti today I was among stranger-friends who had gathered to share in grief and anger and honor these two incredible people. I’m also grieving the at least 7 others who have also died in ICE custody, but whose deaths were not filmed. Singing together, crying together, holding on to each other to comfort one another, I experienced something I’ve experienced a lot lately: our connection, our oneness, our divine human-ness that connects us to each one. This violence has only cemented that connection. I am leaving this here as a kind of offering in memory of Renee Good and Alex Pretti and to honor all the heroes who are here among us in Minneapolis. 💔🎵🫂

.partridge taught this - grief and love moving through me.. while we lit candles and held space for all we are experiencing as a community this afternoon in Minneapolis. Tonight all over the Twin Cities we are holding small vigils in our neighborhoods to honor and remember Alex Pretti, who was 37 when he was brutally killed by ICE agents this morning. Already I’m hearing from friends who knew him, or know his mom.. It hits home close every time in this town. We have so much grief, so much rage, but we stand strong together. It sounds like some Senators are starting to come forward to show their opposition to the DHS bill! We need this momentum to carry across the country - if you’re in the U.S. please make a plan to call your Senator TODAY and every day and tell them to vote no and filibuster on the DHS budget in the appropriations bill until ICE is defunded and brought out of Minnesota.
