Memorial Weekend, I received the Emerging Leader Award from Rise & Remember.

This recognition comes through the Rise & Remember Festival here in the Twin Cities, which creates space for remembrance, community and ongoing work toward racial justice.

To be acknowledged in that context—and alongside so many people doing meaningful work—means a great deal.

My commitment remains the same: to show up with integrity, to center community, and to use my voice and artistry in ways that bring people together and move us forward.

I’ve been intentionally quiet these past weeks — listening, gathering, and letting some things settle.

Minneapolis, Minnesota is hurting deeply this week, and especially tonight. Two children were killed today, and 17 others — most of them kids — were injured in a shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church.

This is my home. These are our kids. They should be learning with their friends, praying with their families, and playing on playgrounds — not facing violence.

To the families and community of Annunciation: my heart is with you. Thank you to the teachers, parishioners, and neighbors who protected children in the middle of chaos.

- The Minneapolis Foundation has created an official fund for families. You can text ACF1 to 41444 to donate.

- Memorial Blood Centers is also urgently calling for blood donations after several tragedies this week.

We cannot look away. We cannot become numb. Let us honor the lives lost, support those healing, and demand a safer future for every child in our city.
