As we count down the days until the end of the comedy institution known as The SHOWcase and Caste of Killers as we know it, we will be posting various screeds about the show and the scene from producers, comics, fans, venue owners, and others.

This first one comes from Jhovany Diaz, a comic from, I'm not really sure where he lives since he is always moving, always getting out there. Check him out.

"The SHOWcase is one of those shows like CYSK in Chicago that have that aura around them. That’s the show you want to get on. "I did it! I’m being recognized." You start to think, “hey maybe I’m getting okay at this stand up thing.” That basement and stone wall at Karma was a perfect little dungeon of comedy. Like the OR at The Store or the The Cellar in New York..it had feeling that it was something special. I was about a year in comedy that I got to do a the SHOWcase. After my set at the mic at Karma Jason approached me..I think it was my “Dance like nobody’s watching joke..got me that first 5 minute guest spot. When that night finally came I thought I was going to kill it…but you learn and get humbled. Your keep writing and keep performing..it’s the only way to get better. I’m just glad I got to be a part of it. Part of a special time and place in Milwaukee comedy."

They say, "All good things must come to an end." In our case, that is most certainly true... The Caste of Killers' SHOWcase is Milwaukee's longest-running independent comedy showcase. We've put on headliners like Vanessa Fraction, Drew Michael. Adam Burke, John Roy, Felonius Munk, Kristen Toomey, and so many more. We're bringing it to a close. We have two more shows left. The first, is April 21, with local favorite Tyler Menz headlining (Caste of Killers Comedy presents The Showcase!). The final show is a collaboration with Milwaukee Comedy and The Lincoln Lodge, bringing you The Bitter Buddha himself, Eddie Pepitone in Milwaukee!!
Please help us give The SHOWcase a proper send-off. Join us for both events, happening at The Underground Collaborative.
