¡Hola desde Antigua 🇬🇹🌋✨!
Let me give you an update on my life these days.
In short: I decided to quit my “normal” job last week and pursue my dream of working for myself and learning Spanish once and for all. 🫣💃🏽 🌎
In full(ish):
I have been working with/for nonprofits and NGOs for many years now and have been in a mode of feeling like I’m waiting for the pieces to fit. I absolutely love the work that is happening to push towards systemic change, but I was continuously feeling burnt out. Feeling like I was in this continuous mode of fight or flight in some way or another. And then not feeling motivated all together because I was burnt out.
Yoga and art has been an incredible outlet and source of joy for me, and I’ve discovered that in the effort for social change we need healers and creators alongside the fighters and movers. I learned that both can be true for me. As I remain steady in my passion for social change, I can also be of service by creating spaces for healing and joy, AND being a demonstration of that joy as I choose myself and my passions (creating art, and holding sacred space for myself and others with yoga practice so the work can carry on).
Last year I creates space for my passions with .bykayla & by moving to part time. With that gift of time and flexibility I saw that as I poured more energy into what I loved, what I loved grew. Many things unfolded: community wellness opportunities, collaborations with art, private offering opportunities, relationships that will last a lifetime with women just like me began to manifest….and I found myself pulled into this space for me even more.
With that, I quit my job and 💥 I’m now a full time entrepreneur, pursuing what I know I need, want, and love.
First stop: Antigua!
I’m in Guatemala for four weeks brushing up on my Spanish as a way to connect more to my own latinidad—something I’ve been craving for a while. And also, so that I can feel confident enough to provide yoga offerings to my community who I know wants and needs representation in this wellness space.
More wellness and creative art offerings are always underway, but for now I’m enjoying this beautiful pause. ♥️
