Over 45 venues, dozens of artists, and hundreds of free songs are filling the air across Milwaukee, West Allis, Glendale, and beyond — from porches and plazas to parks and pizza joints!

Today we honor freedom, resilience, and Black joy. On June 19, 1865—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation—enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom. Juneteenth is a celebration of that long-delayed justice and a reminder of the work that continues.

Across Milwaukee and beyond, we celebrate with music, art, food, and community—lifting up Black voices, history, and excellence.

Let’s reflect, show up, and keep building toward liberation for all.

Back in 1982, the French Ministry of Culture launched Fête de la Musique, a free, open-to-all celebration where anyone—pros, amateurs, kids, orchestras, DJs—could fill the streets with music on the summer solstice. The idea was simple: music everywhere, by everyone, for everyone.

Fast forward to today: Make Music Day is now in over 1,000 cities across 120+ countries, still held every year on June 21st. And yes—France still goes all out with performances in parks, cafes, balconies, and sidewalks, all celebrating the universal joy of music. 🇫🇷🎻🪘
