Lillies After Dusk
Second Hauntings Collection

Original 1999 art print titled Lillies by Sergon, thoughtfully reimagined with hand-painted acrylic details.

Some paintings feel complete.

Others seem to be quietly waiting for another story.

When I discovered this peaceful garden scene at a thrift store, it already possessed a gentle kind of magic. The still water, the arched bridge, and the soft evening light felt as though they were expecting visitors most people never notice.

Rather than repainting the landscape, I simply listened to it.

Two friendly ghosts drift across the pond in a weathered canoe while a curious frog prince watches from the lily pads. A witch and her faithful black cat pause together on the bridge as hundreds of glowing fireflies transform the quiet garden into something that exists somewhere between memory and imagination.

Every addition was painted by hand in acrylic while preserving the beauty of the original artwork beneath.

I believe forgotten paintings don't need to be rescued—they need to be remembered. Sometimes all they ask for is someone willing to notice the story that has been waiting there all along.

This piece is part of my ongoing Second Hauntings collection, where overlooked artwork is thoughtfully transformed into a new chapter while honoring the artist who first imagined the scene.

The original identification label from the 1999 print has been preserved and is attached to the back with removable washi tape. I include it both as part of the painting's history and as a way of honoring the original artwork from which this new story emerged.

Meet Broom Rider

There are still old roads only witches remember.

She travels them quietly beneath the evening sky, following invisible paths that have been crossed for generations. There is no hurry, no spectacle—only the simple rhythm of an ordinary journey through an extraordinary world.

Part of my Where Magic Grows collection, this painting is also part of my Folk Miniatures series—small original works celebrating folklore, autumn, and timeless storytelling through a primitive folk-art style.

Hand-painted with acrylics on a 4 x 4 inch black canvas and presented on its own wooden easel.

Fall is definitely not "in the air" just yet here in swealtering North West Florida, 🥵 but it's definitely on my mind and I really can't wait for those cooler temps and cozy evenings surrounded by my favorite fall and Halloween decor. I have mentally switched into fall mode, even though the temps don't match my heart right now, 🫩 I can't stop cranking out fall art. This is my new collection - my Folk Miniatures series—tiny paintings inspired by vintage folk art, folklore, and the gentle magic hidden within the changing seasons. Each one comes with its own display easel so they can easily be tucked in and among your favorite fall decor.

This is my latest thrifted painting that I have reimangined in a Fall/Halloween theme. It started off as a framed print called "Forest Path" by F. Buckley. I picked it up at a local Waterfront Thrift Store and immediately knew what I wanted to do...

Some roads don't appear on any map.

They reveal themselves only when autumn settles over the world and the evenings arrive a little earlier. Folklore says that if you're lucky enough to find one, you shouldn't ask where it leads. The witches already know.

The Witches' Road began as a vintage framed print titled Forest Path by artist F. Buckley. Rather than covering the original artwork, I treated it as the beginning of a story that had not yet been fully told.

Three witches make their quiet journey along an ancient woodland road toward a gathering hidden somewhere beyond the trees. One carries a torch whose glowing embers drift into the evening sky. Another lights the path with a pumpkin lantern, while the third walks with a weathered wooden staff, following a route she has traveled many autumns before.

The forest itself has awakened to witness their passing. A black cat waits patiently beside the path. A rabbit watches from the undergrowth. A lone black bird keeps watch overhead, while mysterious eyes peer from the trunks of the old trees, guiding the travelers deeper into the enchanted woods.

To strengthen the feeling of early autumn, I warmed the original landscape with richer fall colors and added hand-painted pumpkins throughout the scene. Metallic gold paint has been carefully layered into the foliage and along the path, catching changing light as the piece is viewed from different angles and giving the forest a quiet magical glow.

After repainting the artwork, I also transformed the presentation itself. The original mat was refinished in metallic gold, while the vintage frame was painted black and gently aged with antique gold Rub 'n Buff to complement the enchanted atmosphere of the piece.

This artwork is part of my Second Hauntings collection—a series of forgotten thrifted artworks that are given a second life through folklore, magic, whimsy, and quiet mystery. Rather than replacing the original painting, I continue its story, revealing the hidden world that may have always existed just beyond the edge of the original scene.

Like every piece in the Second Hauntings collection, this isn't a haunted place.
It's a place where folklore still remembers the way.
