I’ve always loved Gary Lewis and the Playboys and especially “This Diamond Ring”. It’s really an interesting song. From the melody to the chord changes. It’s really a great example of where pop music was heading in 1964.

Only 12 days till my first solo single is released on all streaming platforms. This was recorded at Ground Zero at Sun records in Memphis, Tennessee. Reel to reel tape, period correct vintage microphones, one room, with that iconic Sam Phillips slap back echo. This is EXACTLY down to the last wire how Elvis, Cash, Perkins, Jerry Lee, Orbison, and countless others did it. This is the closest you can get to the real thing because it is exactly that…The real thing. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it! ❤️

I’m so excited to be able to finally announce that my first single off of my Sun records EP will be released on all streaming platforms on October 30th. A huge thanks to my producer Taylor Al-Um and Candy Apple Productions | Music Production | Nashville TN and the fine folks at Sun records, and everyone else who helped make that once in a lifetime opportunity possible! So be on the lookout for ole Woody’s new single!

Moon Over Montana
Is a song written by Jimmy Wakely and Oliver Drake and produced by Lee Gillette in 1946 for Capital Records in Nashville Tennessee. Jimmy’s smooth voice and sinister chord structure made for an attractive yet uneasy listening experience which made everyone stop what they were doing and lean in to their radio’s. I’ve always loved this song from the first time I heard it on WSM 650 AM. It’s a great western song for a beautiful October evening. I hope y’all enjoy my take on such a cool record!
