In 2012, esteemed Georgia College & Kappa Alpha Order alumni, Stephen Scates (autographs available upon request), had an idea. His idea was simple - find a farm, book a band, and spread the word among GC students. Featuring bands such as The
White Kids, Faren Rachels, and Seven Handle Circus, the inaugural Battle of Milledgeville was seen as a great way to kick off the semester and enjoy the waning rays of the summer sun. In 2014, the men of Kappa Alpha Order and Delta Sigma Phi decided to take it up a notch. What was formerly the Battle of Milledgeville underwent an intensive transformation to become what is now known as CountyLine Music Festival. Praised by publications such as the Boston Globe, Examiner, and Paste Magazine for their intensely southern soulful sound, 2014 headliner The Dirty Guv'nahs brought a big-time feel to small town Milledgeville. In conjunction with Peach State Pride, Bellamy Milledgeville, GC SGA, and other local sponsors, 2014 was a massive success and thus CountyLine's place in Georgia College student life was firmly cemented. Representing truly the best Georgia College has to offer when it comes to student involvement, the men of GC's Kappa Alpha Order and Delta Sigma Phi have dedicated the time and resources needed to ensure 2017 is bigger and better than ever before. As the popularity of CountyLine has grown, we've realized the true potential of this event to make a positive impact on not only those who attend, but those around us as well. This is why we will be partnering with the Life Enrichment Center in Milledgeville, Georgia. It is our honor to partner with such an outstanding organization, who connects the Georgia College students and the city of Milledgeville with individuals with disabilities. The brothers of Kappa Alpha Order and Delta Sigma Phi will not only provide a monetary donation to the LEC; we will also be an active participant with the individuals' events and activities.
