Now that I have had a few days to clear my head and reflect...
Whew. If you’ve ever organized a community event, you know the day itself is an absolute whirlwind of logistics, problem-solving, and underlying stress.
But then the music starts.
The vision and mission of the "Save Live Music in Milford" group truly came to life this weekend. When you look back at 88 performances across 59 porches, it’s hard to wrap your head around. But as a good friend put it so perfectly after experiencing a Porchfest: "It doesn't matter who you are, where you're from, who you pray to or who sleeps in your bed—when neighbors dance with neighbors in the streets, the current social climate disappears for a brief moment of time. If every neighborhood had a Porchfest, i'm pretty certain we'd have world peace. And i'm gonna do my part to make that happen."
To put it simply: https://youtu.be/S7zIbvnlG8A?si=ZeOpG9e5_ru1IQkU
—it was a stone groove ,my man!
Beyond the music and the numbers, looking back over the years of hosting, organizing, and even consulting with other towns, it is for the people why I do this. I've made so many incredible friends along the way—from amazing local residents and fellow organizers to a great bunch of super talented musicians who are great people.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible, showed up, and danced in the street.
A massive extra thank you to my wife, Susan, for surviving all those uncomfortable moments in front of my camera lens over the last few months. I promise you can finally go back to hiding from it now!
🎶 The show must go on... and it did! 🎶
