Happy Poetry Month to all you writers, readers and lovers of poetry. This is our month to make some noise. Show up and show out. Poetry is still alive and well. It’s time to bring it to the forefront. Indulge a bit this month; check out a local open mic (or open podium, in our case😉), pick up a fav poetry book, visit some videos on YouTube. If you don’t like poetry, you haven’t heard or read the right one. I’m not a fan of poetry that is so obscure I can’t understand it. If you’re like that also, you just might like my work. Videos are available on FB at Poets Rule or on my ‘Poets Rule’ YouTube channel. Something just might strike your fancy.

Each Speck (poem)

Each delicate speck
May look like a simple fleck
But upon further inspect
We can detect
They are not what we expect

They are mere artistry
You can see the clarity
The intricate tapestry
Of its creative majesty

Each one a masterpiece
To be enjoyed
For a brief moment
Before it ceases
To exist

Unable to focus
Due to the melting
Of this winter bonus
It’s like hocus pocus

It dissolves
On any warm surface
It lands upon
An open palm
An eager tongue

Vanishing before our eyes
This magical surprise
Evaporates
Leaves us to commiserate
On the beauty
Of a simple
Yet complicated snowflake

Finished the back side of my own flip sign. Lions on one side, winter cold on the other side. All done and on the porch in time for the game today…Lion’s side out💙🩶💙for me, painting is an extension of poetry~
