Blessed to have spotted this Eastern Screech-Owl in New Jersey woods today. Eastern Screech’s come in two different morphs, red and gray. This one is a red morph and has orange-red plumage. You might’ve heard a screech too at night; they do not hoot but sound more like a horse neighing. Keep your peepers open in the woods.

I spotted this and three of its sibling baby killdeers along the Bayshore Coast. The parents quickly became distressed at my presence and I limited my time to under 5-mins photographing them.

“Winter Yawn”
A immature male Snowy Owl takes a much needed rest on top of a lamppost. Their closest relative is the Hreat Horned Owl. Snowy Owls migrate all the way from Arctic Tundra. The ones that migrate down to here in NJ and further south are usually immature (first winter) and have a high mortality rate. It is very important to always respect wildlife from respectable distance.

The report is in line with a well-established trend of recovery in the bald eagle population nationally, which was critically endangered in the 1970s and 1980s because of habitat destruction and the widespread use of DDT

"Every moment is a fresh beginning." -T.S. Eliot 🦋

Tonight's quote is inspired by the message board gifted to me by friends in my doctoral cohort during a tough time in my career!

I still have the message in my classroom as a reminder to never give up, even when things get hard. ❤️

The season is now fall in the United States...a time for change, a time for fresh beginnings.

Sing Aphasia is starting our fall semester (on Zoom). Send a message if you'd like to join! All are welcome. 🎶

Bird’s-eye View Photography birds are back with your final reminder on Motivation Monday to VOTE for SING APHASIA! We made a fun mockumentary film for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge and hope it has inspired people to learn more about aphasia. 👍

We also hope that you've watched some of the other incredible films in this challenge and have seen that people of all backgrounds, genders, races, and abilities have amazing talents that deserve to be seen on screen. As one film shared, these films are "for people like me; which is everyone" (TRIBUTE, 2021). ♿
