A warm welcome to our newest artists, Avyukth and Laasya!
Both began their creative journey exploring lines—the foundational element of art.

Avyukth (Grade 5) used fluid watercolor lines to sketch the structural details of a windmill and built directional, textured grass strokes to create a sense of movement across the landscape.

Laasya (KG) masterfully combines oil pastel textures, using crisp vertical lines and grid cross-hatching to build patterns on her fish, paired with wavy horizontal lines to mimic ocean current.

Sharanya’s (Grade 7) precise pencil sketch of the Taj Mahal serves as the perfect visual anchor for teaching formal balance. By mirroring the twin domes, matching minarets, and central archway on an exact axis, this piece beautifully demonstrates how artists use perfect symmetry to evoke a powerful sense of stability, harmony, and classical grandeur.

History meets modern design with Illuminated Manuscripts

Aadya (Grade 5) uses a graphic marker style to pop a looped blue initial against a unique background of shaded water drops. Adwita takes a traditional approach, using colored pencils for a gold-leaf effect framed by a neat border and floating pink butterflies.

These pieces by sisters Ayesha (Grade 5) and Fatima (Grade 3) beautifully illustrate a lesson on prehistoric cave art by mimicking the texture of stone walls through crinkled, earth-toned backgrounds. Ayesha’s work introduces the conceptual focus on large game animals and early human figures, using deep red earth pigments like those found in ancient sites. Meanwhile, Fatima’s detailed hunting scene perfectly models narrative storytelling and the depiction of movement through stick-figure silhouettes and animal herds.

Shanaya’s (Grade 5) Mona Lisa recreation teaches Renaissance sfumato and atmospheric depth. Vidhey’s (Grade 1) landscape models traditional Japanese Sumi-e by balancing bold foreground outlines with soft ink washes and using strategic color accents to inject life. Lastly, Kiara’s (Kindergarten) artwork captures the whimsical leisure themes of the Rococo movement, utilizing a dreamy pastel palette to mirror the lighthearted style of 18th-century France.

In the painting by Aria, she beautifully demonstrates unity by recreating Georges Seurat’s masterwork, using Q-tips to create repeated pointillism dots that seamlessly bind the separate figures and landscape into a cohesive whole. Meanwhile, the painting by Aarush showcases the principle of emphasis, using bold outlines and a striking splash of contrasting orange to make the cat's vibrant eyes immediately command your attention. Together, these young artists prove how different design principles—whether drawing a composition together as one or making a single focal point pop—create powerful visual stories.

✨ Kindergarten Spotlight! ✨

Shoutout to Sreeshma for taking on the challenge of capturing a photo illustration from a book right into her sketchbook! It was absolutely remarkable to see her patiently follow directions, blending a soft watercolor background with rich, bright oil pastels to make those textured petals pop.
