At the Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville, Nashville, Tennessee

Taylor Thistlethwaite of Middleburg, Virginia, Thistlethwaite Americana, seamlessly mixes Americana of various periods. At the 20th-century end, he displayed a mahogany credenza by American designer Harvey Probber (1922-2003) with decorative enameled copper panels executed by Arpad Rosti, circa 1960, $28,000. Above right, an American folk painting, circa 1880, features horses and riders with appeal to Tennessee equestrians.

The circa 1810 pier table attributed to John and Hugh Finlay of Baltimore, 36¾" x 39½" x 21", sold for $196,800 (est. $50,000/70,000) at Brunk Auctions It had previously sold at 's on October 9, 1997, for $90,500 to dealer Guy Bush.

The table sold to a private collector. Bidding online, Taylor Thistlethwaite, Thistlethwaite Americana was the underbidder.

The Finlay tabletop was painted faux marble; the frieze was painted with landscape scenes, floral images, and stylized anthemion designs.

"I tend to only buy things that make my heart flutter." 💓
