This week’s session will be led by Satin Fye, a veteran community organizer who will help attendees create a voting plan, understand what’s on the ballot, and learn about resources available to help them make informed decisions.

Can’t make it in person? You can catch all of our sessions on YouTube at All Like Minds Media (All Like Minds Media).

A little something for everybody.

Here’s a look at some of the books you’ll find in our new book section this week. Stop by, browse the shelves, get something from Matcha Edit and find your next great read.

A special thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Read-a-Thon on Historic 15th Avenue. It was a beautiful morning filled with community, good energy, and planting seeds of literacy right here in Liberty City.

Join us for our next Read-a-Thon on October 31. Pull up dressed as your favorite character from the book you’re reading. We’re going to read, vibe, and then head to the polls to early vote together.

No program. No long speeches. Just 150 people slowing down for an hour and reading together on Historic 15th Ave.

Bring a lawn chair, blanket, and your favorite book or stop inside the bookstore and grab something new to read. Find your spot along 15th Ave. and give us one hour of reading together as a community.

FAQ
📍 Where are we reading?
Right on the sidewalk along 15th Ave or along the side of the bookstore. Find a comfortable spot, set up your lawn chair, umbrella or blanket, and get to reading.

🚗 Where do I park?
Street parking is available between 65th–66th Streets and 67th–68th Streets. Please do not park directly in front of the bookstore so we can keep that area open for the event.

⏰ How long are we reading?
We’re asking everybody to commit to one hour (10–11 AM). Come a little early, grab your spot, and get comfortable.

🥤 Can I bring something to drink?
Absolutely. Grab something refreshing from Matcha Edit bootleglemonade or a Roots Coco Water.

🎶 Will there be music?
Yep! We’ll be reading to the sounds of The Violinist 🎻 setting the vibe.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Can I bring my jits?
Please do! This is for readers of all ages. Bring the whole family and let the little ones pick out a book too.

☀️ What about the Miami heat?
Dress comfortably, bring water, an umbrella and sunscreen is always a good idea.

Join us tomorrow from 5–9 PM as we kick off Black August together.

Before we begin the month of fasting, studying meaningful texts, and strategizing for the last quarter of the year, we’re gathering in community.

Come learn more about the history and significance of Black August, connect with good people, and spend your Friday evening with us at the bookstore.
See you tomorrow. ✊🏾📚

“Black August is a time for us to recommit to the struggle and recommit to our people.”
