True Mirage Theater announces auditions for “Carrie: The Musical”

Directed by Daniel Gil, Music Directed by Keandra Cordero

Performances run August 21st thru 30th at True Mirage Theater.

Rehearsals will be select Saturdays in July based on cast availability, early rehearsals August 3rd thru 7th, and evenings August 10th thru 14th. Tech rehearsals the evenings of August 17th thru 20th.

Auditions will take place on June 30th from 12pm - 5pm. Callbacks will take place from 6pm - 10pm. If you are unable to attend, self tapes will be accepted.

Please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song that shows off your vocal and emotional range.

SEEKING: LOCAL NON-EQUITY ACTORS. PAID.

•Carrie White: plays 16
vocal range G3 – E3. 
A shy outsider, bullied by her classmates and controlled by her overly religious mother.
•Sue Snell: plays 16-17
vocal range A3-E5. 
A popular girl who has a change of heart after a cruel act of bullying that she participated in.
•Tommy Ross: plays 16-18
vocal range A2-C5. 
Star athlete and sensitive aspiring poet. Sue Snell’s boyfriend.
•Chris Hargensen: plays 16-18
vocal range E3-E5. 
Rich and spoiled. She believes that rules don’t apply to her and has anger management issues. She is the queen bee and leader of the bullies.
•Billy Nolan: plays 17-19
vocal range A2-C5.
A “sexy”, yet stupid bad boy. Chris’s easily manipulated boyfriend.
•Norma: plays 16-18
vocal range E3-E5. 
Mean girl, and a suck up to authority. She is Chris Hargensen’s best friend.
•Frieda: plays 16-18
vocal range E3-G5. 
Sue’s brainy, bossy friend.
•Helen: plays 16-18
vocal range E3-G5. 
Giggly, with a strong need to belong.
•George: plays 16-18
vocal range A2-C5. 
Tommy’s wingman and Frieda’s boyfriend. He idolizes Tommy, perhaps a bit too much.

Aside from the activism, Rachel Corrie was a young aspiring artist with a big heart and a messy bedroom who wanted to change the world.

“My Name is Rachel Corrie” celebrates the life of an American girl whose life was cut short as she stood up for what she believed in, and tried to save the home of a Palestinian family in Gaza in 2003.

True Mirage Theater is proud to officially announce Raul A. Hernandez as a vital part of our team. For quite some time, Raul has collaborated with us, worked on our shows as both a designer and as an actor, and has been instrumental in the creation of our new theatre space.

It’s high time for the title of Technical Director, and the announcement to celebrate his work with our community!

True Mirage Theater is proud to present “MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE”, directed by Daniel Gil and starring Celia Voges as the late American activist Rachel Corrie.

On March 16, 2003, the 23-year-old was crushed to death by an Israeli Army bulldozer in Gaza as she was trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home. Actor Alan Rickman and journalist Katherine Viner edited Rachel’s own journals, letters and emails to create an intimate portrait of the messy, articulate, Salvador Dali and Pat Benatar-loving chain-smoker, who left her home and school in Olympia, Washington, to work as an activist in the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

This play marks the inaugural production of True Mirage’s new black box theatre space.

🎭 After years of dreaming, producing, and outgrowing our space… we are finally building a permanent home for our theatre community.

🎉 WE ARE MOVING! 🎉

The time is finally here. We will be moving into a 2,000 sq ft warehouse and transforming it into a fully functional black box theatre, right across the street from The Falls!

This space represents something we’ve dreamed about for years: a permanent artistic home in the Kendall area for our creative community.

This new theatre will serve as both our rehearsal and performance space where we develop and present new work, uplift local playwrights, and train the next generation of theatre artists in Miami.

It will also provide an affordable, accessible venue for other artists and organizations to bring their work to life — such as production of Extremities this summer!

We’re building this theatre from the ground up, and every part of it will be created with the help of our community.

Your donations will help us:

💨 Install an AC unit
🎨 Paint the walls black to create a true performance space
💡 Install a professional lighting grid
🪑 Add audience seating
🔊 Bring in sound equipment
🎭 Build a flexible stage & backstage area

This new theatre will allow us to produce more original work by Miami artists, serve more students, continue to offer scholarships, and comfortably welcome more audience members.

This space isn’t just for our organization — it’s for Miami’s theatre community.

A place where young performers train, new plays are developed, and local artists have a stage to share their stories.
