Back to Black [Amy Winehouse Cover] ~By Roland~

This song is interesting in that I never understood what Amy was trying to say other than it was a bad break up and when he leaves her to return to the other woman, she goes to a "dark place."

It took singing it, because it was such a well written piece, to understand what she was saying. She's an addict. She's happy and lucid only when he's around. He goes on back to "her," the other woman, ... And she goes back to "BLACK" which I now see is into oblivion and her addiction or blackouts seeking escape from the loss of his love.

It became clear only while singing it. She only said "goodbye" with words, her heart never did and she used her addiction to fall into her "black" oblivion. Strange I didn't see that as much as I'd heard the song.

A Wasted Day [Esteva, Original Poetry, September 2015]

Yesterday, The Sunlight danced freely through your curtains,
… To a melody - in the Key of Silence Breathing.
Choruses of golden light bathed your supple skin … With the soft, red glow
… Of the Early Evening.
Your Freckles-Irish spoke for hours to mine eyes that felt no time.
The clock stood still within our bubble,
And The Earth was yours and mine.
My heightened senses felt the fragrance of your womanhood …
From distances … That were not near enough for us.
Yet were traversed as if an epic journey,
Had brought us mystically to float upon the linen oceans on which we sailed.
Your eyes of green,
Cast waves of light,
Illuminating all they've seen,
While heralding the coming night.
My own eyes dance over the room,
Where smells, and sounds, and textures ... Yet loom,
And darkness chills light streaming from the early moon,
And signals to our reluctant hearts that our time is ending soon.
And now the hours seem as if they passed as minutes.
What did we do that caused such overwhelming joy and absolution?
What felt so perfectly yet cannot be recalled and yields blissed confusion?
The details vanish with a wistful fleeting blowing of the wind ...
And yet all seems more poignant to our lives, relegating all that came before to whim.
A wasted day that held more meaning than all those that came before.
A wasted day that holds the promise of what can be, ...
And much more.
