The Trio Carpenter Lauren, Sean et David Carpenter playing « Semi-Canonical Great Feud » d'Alexey Shor in their apartment at The Plaza Hotel

Today, despite performing as a soloist and feeling stronger than ever, I would never have believed ten years ago that I could play the way I do today. Sometimes, the stars align, and something simply clicks.

Yet one thing has never changed: how much I enjoy sharing the stage with my brother, David Aaron Carpenter, and Lauren Carpenter. The opportunity to perform together is a rare and special gift—one that I never take for granted. Some moments in music are truly unique, and sharing them with family makes them even more meaningful. 🎻✨

Ástor Piazzolla – Oblivion

Oblivion is one of Astor Piazzolla’s most haunting and intimate creations. With its bittersweet melody and timeless atmosphere, the piece captures a profound sense of longing, nostalgia, and quiet reflection. Every phrase seems to tell a story, suspended between memory and emotion, allowing the music to speak directly to the heart. Decades after its composition, Oblivion continues to enchant audiences around the world with its extraordinary beauty and emotional depth.

“The Carpenter Trio - violist David Aaron Carpenter and violinists Sean Avram Carpenter and Lauren Sarah Carpenter - perform Astor Piazzolla's Oblivion on a 1715 Stradivarius viola, the 1727 'Vesuvio' Stradivarius violin and the 1714 'Joachim-Ma' Stradivarius violin. All three instruments are on display in the Museo del Violino in Cremona, Italy.”

Beyond the artistic projects currently in preparation, I equally enjoy performing with my brother and sister, with a chamber orchestra, alongside a piano, or with a full symphony or philharmonic orchestra. My repertoire is broad, and my passion for music constantly drives me to explore different musical settings and discover new talents with whom I can share energy, inspiration, and artistic expression.

Today, I have never felt more prepared, both musically and personally. Life is too short not to pursue what we are truly meant to do.

A healthy lifestyle has played a major role in helping me reach the level I feel today. Equally important was a shift in perspective: learning to take care of myself and to move forward with purpose. I often think of the words that someone told me: Rest – Evaluate – Transition. I have now reached that transition, thanks to my family, friends, and all those who have supported me through the years.

I cannot wait to open the next chapter with you and write a new page together.

Before & today such a journey! 🎻🎶✨🙏🏼

It feels strange to listen back to recordings from the pandemic years, when I was playing on borrowed instruments. Looking back now, I can clearly hear the difference—not only in the violin itself, but in my own artistic growth.

I never imagined it was possible to improve so much once you find the instrument that truly belongs to you. Over the years, I have played many exceptional violins, each with its own voice and character. But for me, performing on stage and collaborating with other artists requires more than a great instrument. It is about feeling completely at home with its sound, its response, its presence, and even the way it shapes your posture and expression.

Today, my Del Gesù feels less like an instrument and more like an extension of myself. It is as if I inhabit it and it inhabits me in return. The connection is so natural that I no longer think about technique—I simply think about music.

More than ever, I look forward to returning to the stage and sharing that connection with audiences. My greatest wish is to make people feel something genuine through this extraordinary Del Gesù, a violin that has become the voice of what I want to bring to the world.

Julian Rachlin & Friends Festival some memories and funny pictures from many years ago!

It feels like yesterday… 🎻✨

Wonderful memories from the Julian Rachlin & Friends Festival in beautiful Dubrovnik, surrounded by incredible artists and dear friends. Sharing music with the Maisky family—Lily Maisky and Mischa Maisky—and with my brother David Carpenter remains a cherished memory.

I fell in love with Croatia, its history, its beauty, and the unique atmosphere of Dubrovnik. Looking back at those moments, it truly feels like yesterday. Music has a beautiful way of preserving memories and bringing us back to places and people who have touched our lives. 🇭🇷🎶✨

Back in Miami, spending time with my beloved Del Gesù, I find myself reconnecting with the music and inspiration that have shaped me since childhood. I can’t wait to share this next artistic project with the world—one that brings me back to those golden years that first made me dream.

Over time, I’ve learned that artistry is not measured by age. In a world often focused on youth, I’ve discovered, much like Deshun Wang, that passion, dedication, and experience continue to deepen our expression. Every year adds something new to the story we tell through our art.

I don’t drink alcohol, but someone once told me, “Tu te bonifies avec l’âge comme un bon vin.” 🙃🎻✨🎶

Perhaps they were right. Not because of age itself, but because every challenge, every lesson, and every hour spent with an instrument leaves its mark.

There is no age. There is no perfect time.

There is only the courage to begin again—and the excitement of a new journey. 🎶✨

Practice is a lifelong journey. There is no age limit to opening up, discovering new depths in music, and becoming a better artist. Every day with the violin reveals something new — a color, a phrase, an emotion that was waiting to be found.

I often smile when people ask how many hours I practice. I simply don’t count. I cannot imagine life without my instrument. It is part of who I am, a constant companion in the pursuit of beauty and truth.

In many ways, I feel inspired by the golden age of violin playing, following the path illuminated by masters such as Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler, David Oistrakh, and Itzhak Perlman. Their recordings remind us that technique serves expression, and that the greatest artistry comes from a lifetime of curiosity, dedication, and love for music.

How long do you practice? Here is legendary violinist Jascha Heifetz answer.

Among other things that might surprise you, he also said: "Often when I am supposed to be practicing hard I am out with my camera taking pictures." He clarifies, however, that he speaks for himself and that it would not be a bad thing for others to practice their instrument up to six hours.

Hello Summer!

As summer arrives, I walk through the world with this instrument as if it were part of my own flesh—an extension of my voice, my breath, and my soul. Every note carries the warmth of the season, the memory of endless horizons, and the joy of sharing music without borders.

I am practicing that lives the golden spirit of another era, echoing the elegance of Itzhak Perlman, the brilliance of Antonio Vivaldi, and the charm of Fritz Kreisler. Their legacy lingers like sunlight on old photographs—timeless, radiant, and full of wonder.

This is a season of light, gratitude, and music; a reminder that true artistry is not merely played, but lived.
