The name of this artwork came somewhere in the middle of painting it. has that particular combination of faded Mediterranean color and early autumn warmth that felt very close to what was happening on the canvas.

There’s a lot happening in this painting, but I never wanted to quiet it down. I liked the generosity of it: the color allowed to spread, overlap and find its own balance.

I started this painting at the turn of the season, when autumn was just beginning to gain color. I wanted to catch that sense of warmth becoming deeper and slightly more dramatic as the light changes.

Named after the little town on the Ligurian coast, where the colors seem especially fitting for this time of year. As autumn slowly gains color, everything becomes warmer, deeper, richer.

Meet Odessa.

Created from four colours chosen by its owner, this painting took me somewhere I hadn’t been before. Quiet at first, then unexpectedly fierce, it slowly revealed a personality full of passion, courage, and beautiful contradictions.
